I'm in the event business and the number of people that show up without appointments is ridiculous. Then they get mad when you are with someone else and they have to wait. The kicker is when I find out that people show up on a Sunday and throw a fit because nobody was there to tour them. I made and appointment and showed up (on time) to see a wedding venue. When we showed up, we noticed some dressed up people walking toward it and thought odd, there must be a function somewhere here. We met with the lady there and she proceeded to show us the wedding and reception area... as a wedding was going on!!!! People were all dressed up, having drinks, I think it was cocktail hour, and there we were in our bum shorts and flip flops. We were horrified they would show us around while a wedding was going on, but they lady had no issue walking us through this wedding. We were like, you've got to me kidding me! How annoying!!! In college, I used to work at a pharmacy as a pharmacy technician and I used to get patients come in with their prescriptions and want them filled right then and there. I would politely let them know that there are others waiting in front of them but they would start screaming things like "Do you want me to DIE??? I can DIE if you don't give me my meds now!". I've also heard: "Fine!! I'll just sit there and wait for 15 minutes dealing with my excruciating pain. Happy?!?"</p> <p>I quit after a year. I handle reservations/booking at a pretty high volume venue and it kills me when people show up but don't call first. I would say about 2/3 of people make appointments, while the other 1/3 randomly appear and expect to be helped immediately. Don't get me wrong, I do my best to be helpful but if someone is currently using/has already reserved the space you're interested in, I'm not going to interrupt them so you can see it. I used to do sales at a wedding venue and people would show up DURING WEDDINGS wearing ratty old clothes and expect a tour. Really? I also want to stab folks when they make appointments and show up hours later, again expecting immediate assistance. The world doesn't revolve around your schedule!!!</p> <p>end rant. </p>
