@Weswife: I've never been on ovidrel so I'm not sure about the reaction specifically to that... But when I've had allergic reactions before, it usually lasts until the medication gets out of your system, so if you keep taking it, it keeps happening. Until your body clears it out, you can only really treat the symptoms. :(

I have really bad allergies, so I have a lot of experience with hives! As long as your breathing isn't being affected, it's just uncomfortable and annoying. So there's different types of antihistamines and you can double up. For instance, benadryl and zantac are both antihistamines but they work in different ways, so you can use both at the same time. Best thing is to alternate your four hour doses. So take benadryl, 2 hours later take zantac, 2 hours later benadryl, etc. You can do some research to see the different classes of antihistamines. Also, Aveeno makes an oatmeal bath, which is temporary relief, but actually works pretty well for the inflammation and swelling. It's best in cool water. I hope you feel better soon!!!

Ovidrel gave me an itchy rash at the injection site on my abdomen. It was itchy and pink for 5 weeks after! Not as serious a reaction as yours though, so we kept using it. But yeah, those reactions can last way longer than you'd think.

@ajsmommy @ Marym @ travellingbee I have called the doctor several times. She is calling it an acute rash! But I have had it now for six days and nothing I do helps.... Ugh! It's hives. I finally got an appt. for Wednesday of this week. Apparently I cannot use ovidrel! 😕

Definitely call the doctor.

I take HCG shots and sometimes have one red welt right at the injection site, but nothing that looks like that.

Have you called your dr?? I would do that immediately. I did ovidrel shots but never had a reaction so I don't know what advice to give other than call the dr.

I did my ovidrel shot last Wednesday and the next day I developed a rash and it's just getting worse. I can't get into the doctor till this Wednesday and it's killer. I am taking Benadryl which isn't helping a ton and I am thinking its hives but they just keep spreading. They started at the top of my thighs and are not covering my entire upper leg on both legs. My husband said it feels like he is reading braile on my legs! Bumps are everywhere!!! I have used Benadryl, cornstarch, ice. Nothing helps!!! Has anyone has this reaction or know what to do?
