@Katm558: How is your LO now? Did you find out what was wrong? My son is experiencing the very similar symptoms too, so I am very curious to know what happened to your baby --

Thanks everyone! DS1 has eczema, so we are aware of what to look for and how to treat it. The pedi didn't seem to think it was eczema either. He has been on penicillin before and didn't have a reaction, but I know that can always change.

His fever went away, but he's definitely still fussy, and the rash hasn't gone away. We are going to talk to the pedi tomorrow, and if she doesn't have anything new to tell us, I think we will take him somewhere else for a second opinion. I spoke with my mother, who works at a detmatologists office as a nurse, and she was worried about scarlet fever too, since what he's going thru and the classic symptoms pretty much match up.

I just want my poor little baby to feel better!

ditto on sounds like classic eczema. we use a combination of hydrocortisone and eucerin and dab it on the spots as needed and it gives him relief at least until it pops back up. also-we don't bathe him longer than 10 mins.

I would be more uncomfortable that the Pedi didn't give you a more clear answer to the rash. Has your LO been on cillin's before? I would be looking for a second opinion about the rash. Rashes can mean a lot of different things, but if you are concerned abour measles of anything like that I would be trying to get in to see a Dermatologist.

sounds like Wonder Baby's eczema. It flares depending on her diet or how dry her skin is or other factors. It generally spreads up to her belly when she is teething or something stressy like that.

DS2 has always had very sensitive skin and frequently gets little rashes that go away within a few hours. But for the last 5 days he's had a rash on his belly, and a few spots on his arms, neck, and near his ears.

He just turned 1 a few weeks ago and received all the immunizations, but our whole family has LO's been battling some sort of mega-bug sickness. DS1 had strep about 13 days ago; took the whole round of antibiotics, nd is doing much better. DH and I have oth had upper respitory infections, eye infections, and double ear infections, which we are both still battling.

I took DS2 to the pedi today because he got a fever last night of 101, was incredibly clingy and irritable, and lethargic. He was tested and diagnosed with strep throat and started his first round of amoxicillin (which I've been taking for 15 days, and I'm breastfeeding). The pedi was perplexed by the rash on DS2's belly because it doesn't seem to fit typical rash charcteristics; this rash is red and irritating, but doesn't seem to be itchy. The bumps are raised, and it gets better and worse as the day goes on, but I haven't noticed a pattern to its tempermant.

I'm seriously worried tha it could be measles or scarlet fever, but we not know for sure. Any thoughts?
