@78h2o: so glad it went away with aquaphor!! it's always great not to have to use medicine!! We sometimes went through 3 or 4 bibs a day because they'd get soaked through.

@bunnylove08: @hilsy85: @mrs. wagon: @MamaMoose: I used the Aquaphor and tried to keep the area dry (with lots of bibs) and it's gone! Yay!

Thanks, everyone! I will try to stay on top of it now.

Ok, thanks everyone! I'll try some of the creams suggested here and if that doesn't work, I'll see if the ped can prescribe something.

I agree on drool rash. We used Desitin at bedtime. We would make sure she was clean and dry and then a light coating of Desitin and it would usually be mostly cleared by morning.

Looks like drool rash to me. Wagon Jr. had it all the time. His drool was really out of control. He had it really bad for a while and no cream, prescribed or OTC, would get rid of it. Finally we got a steroid cream prescribed and it knocked it out overnight.

You'll want to get rid of it before it starts breaking the skin... that's when it gets really ugly :(

Once you've got it under control, stock up on bibs and change them out frequently! (and instruct daycare to do so as well.)

We tried aquaphor and vaseline, and then were prescribed the following:

Hydrocortisone (1%) Idoquinol (1%)
Mupirocin (2%)
Nystatin

then finally the steroid:
Mometasone Furoate (0.1%)

The first time it broke the skin, the hydrocortisone idoquinol got rid of it. So maybe just try some hydrocortisone to start with?

@78h2o: I second @hilsy85: suggestion of Aquaphor. It's more of an ointment so it should create a moisture barrier to allow the rash to heal without more drool/milk continuing to irritate the area.

@zippylef: just their regular lotion, or something else? I know I have regular BB lotion and diaper rash cream at home. The EMAB cream does seem to work for her diaper rash, but I haven't really tried it on anything else, we we'll see.

@hilsy85: Ok, maybe I'll try that. I do think it could be from drool or milk. You can't even see the rash from the front since it's sort of underneath and she usually has her chin tucked down.

Maybe try aquaphor? Could be from drool or milk getting caught between her chin and her neck (or between her chins if she's got more than 1 :) ).

Probably drool rash. Just rub lotion on it and keep it as dry as possible. We used Burts Bees lotion when it happened to us.

Honestly, the EMAB never worked worth a damn for us on anything. I know others who loved it, but I found regular plain coconut oil more effective.

Anyone experienced this? I don't know where it came from or how to treat it?

Maybe from her sleep sack rubbing on it? Or drool getting on her clothes? Or maybe milk when they feed her at daycare?

I've tried putting the Earth Mama Angel Baby Bottem Balm on (since I've heard it's good for other things), as well as breastmilk... so far it hasn't gone away but it's only been 1-2 days.

Any other suggestions for what I should try? Should she seed the ped?

Thanks!
