My RE took one look at my initial testing numbers and told me it would be best to go straight to IVF. I was 38 at the time. We weren't willing to spend that much money (no insurance coverage). We elected for one medicated IUI cycle. Watching a few follicles grow on LOTS of stims is so stressful. That baby is now three.

What a turd. There's more to it than age and lab numbers. FWIW, my RE gave me a way worse diagnosis ("you most likely will not be able to conceive naturally") and I got pregnant naturally 3xs.

Good luck! What a crappy bedside manner though ... I think we all worry enough about those things without them being laid out like that! :goodluck: hope the cycle continues to look good

Went in to get started with my IUI cycle this morning. RE told me that at my age (almost 41) 85% of my eggs won’t be viable. He also said that most pregnancies I have will end before 6 weeks. Then he went on to say that basically we better plan on genetic testing because we want to know if our baby will be abnormal. I mean, I knew the statistics sucked, but gosh. Way to be a downer, Doctor! I had 7 antral follicles on each ovary- more than I had with my other two IUIs resulting in my daughters. So, I’m taking that as a good sign. We only get to try this one cycle because of insurance. So, here’s hoping!
