I'm planning to just post a big lot here on HB, probably. I also have a great maternity coat that I'm really hoping to pass on to a friend or something.

I sold some and gave away others. I would definitely think of reselling them since there are other women in the same boat as you (wanting a few more items but don't want to spend full price on a whole wardrobe).

@catlady: I was just looking on Ebay and finding some stuff. I wouldnt be looking to get much back - even selling at 25% the original cost would make me feel better about some pieces I am looking at!

@raspberries: @mrscobee: @Portboston: Thanks for the input ladies. I agree with you - especially with regards to the more value brand (target, gap, old navy). I hated how worn some of my stuff looked by the end of my last pregnancy. I work in a very boys club corporate environment so I do feel the need to maintain certain appearances at work. Still cant decide if I will splurge or not...mostly was looking at two nice work dresses...

I have sold a few small lots on ebay. You don't get much but it's something. I have also purchased some higher end maternity things on ebay (mostly jeans) at pretty good prices.

I work in a corporate casual environment so I personally haven't had to invest in any nice pieces but even if I had to dress up more I think I would buy cheap items and try to make them look nicer. Everything I've bought I've gotten from target, old navy & asos. Anything else was unloaded by friends. I probably wouldn't seek out used clothes to purchase. However, a friend of mine regularly trolled ebay for designer maternity jeans. So I think there is a market it just might be tough to get rid of stuff.

@raspberries: I agree with this. I think there is just not that big of a market because there are so many people trying to unload them, and the people who can most afford the expensive stuff will just buy new (easier). Also, at some jobs, there is the luxury of slightly lowering your standards during the last 4 months of pregnancy and just getting by wearing the same things all the time without much judgment. That's what I'm doing rather than spending huge amounts on nice maternity pieces. For most, I think it is more practical to go cheap. I got all my stuff at Target and probably wouldn't have changed that. It has just been easy to do it that way.

I'd say if you want to invest in high quality pieces for your pregnancy, then go for it - but you probably won't recoup the costs. There are a lot of cheaper options for maternity clothes out there that women gravitate towards - even the lower quality of Gap/Old Navy/Asos usually last with heavy wear for 4-5 months. I feel like so many women who are done having kids just try to unload their maternity clothes in any way they can - there's not a huge market for more expensive pieces, unless they're for special occasions.

Has anyone ever had any luck re-selling maternity clothes? Or on the flip side, buying maternity clothes?

I am newly pregnant and thinking I would like to invest in some nicer pieces for work this time around. Given this will likely be our last I am hesitant bc of the cost of some of the pieces I have been looking at.

Wondering if anyone has gone in with the mindset they will try to re-sell it afterwards to recoup the cost?
