Is she just-2 or a later 2? I started some chapter books with my guy when he was a bit over 2.5. I particularly like the Magic Treehouse books for him, but we also read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and Charlotte's Web more recently (he'll be 3 next month). He doesn't get all of it, but I like it better because I help him re-call details, predict, etc. We also read lots of picture books, but I do enjoy reading more with chapter books I love.

I think bedtime is easiest and I think you should look for some children's books that will interest you a bit more. Also try asking questions about what you see rather than actually reading, that might help a bit.

I'm a book nerd, LO loves books, but sometimes it is just.so.boring. I do the same thing. I have set times of day we read and I try to never say no when asked to read. Sometimes new books from the library helps! And when I'm bored talking about the pictures helps too.

We read about 3 books at bedtime and I know they read a couple a school each day during the week but other than that, we don't read throughout the day. For more interest try letting your LO "read" familiar books to you. It is just as important that they learn about texts by talking about the story and pictures and it takes some pressure off of you to read a ton of books aloud to LO.

I don't know if this will make you feel better or not, but part of DD's kindergartener homework is to read 20 min a day (me to her or her to me), and I think they assign this because most people DON'T read to their children. So, it's great that you do.
With my younger two, they get a story at nap and two at bedtime. If we have time to fit in besides that, then we do, otherwise that's what they get On a daily basis.

My two year old loves books, and I'm a huge advocate of reading to kids. But despite that, I find it hard to make myself read to her throughout the day. I'm bored. Im thinking about the million things on my todo list. I have to say I don't really enjoy it.

I'm trying to make myself fill a quota by reading after every meal. Are there any tips or tricks you've found? I think if I was reading chapter books I'd have more interest, but picture books
just seem to bore me.
