Always used powder... I bought the munchkin powdered formula dispensers and would fill them up with enough powder for three feeds. I then put room temperature water in the bottles so that when we needed to feed on the go, we could just dispense the pre measured formula into the bottle.

I always did powder because it's cheaper. Also, I know of babies who then only want ready to feed! I know someone who spends $200 a month on the ready to feed because that is all her son will take.

@singingbee: I loved the ready to feed for road trips! But, I also carried a small canister of formula in my diaper bag & kept a few bottles of water at room temp in the car. We never had a problem going back and forth!

Always powder. We just mixed a single serving at a time, no need to make a huge portion ahead if you don't have access to a fridge.

We used powder when traveling - lighter and takes up less room. I used the premeasured packets (i think they made 4oz bottles?) while on the plane, and then bought a canister at our destination.

We used to take ready to feed bottles on the plane (faster, easier, instant gratification...but also more $$$) and then use the powder packets when we are on the ground (more time to prepare, less juggling). LO did not have any issues. At home I would do the same thing as you and make a big pitcher.

Maybe buy a small amount of each and try at home beforehand to see how you LO takes to it?

We usually take ready to feed bottles with us when we go out in case of emergencies and my LOs go back and forth just fine. It's expensive though! My kids are 8 weeks old and do formula as a supplement after breast feeding. So we get the ready to feed 2 oz bottles and it's $6 for 6 bottles at Walmart. If your LO is taking much larger bottles I imagine it would add up fast. You can't beat the convenience though. Maybe you could get a few to have on hand in case of emergencies and plan on doing powder the rest of the time?

We do a mix. Going back and forth has not been an issue for her...we will try and do as much powder as we can (as it's cheaper!) but sometimes we have to give the ready made.

Our boys didn't have a problem switching back and forth, so what we did was use the ready feed bottles when we were actually traveling, and then we would use regular powder when we arrived and could set up more like at home. We looooooved the ready to feed; it is sooo convenient to not have to pour water, find the formula, etc. You just screw on a nipple and cap and you're good to go!

My LO had trouble going back and forth. We had to gradually switch her to the ready to feed. I would bring powder if that's what your LO is used to.

We used powder packets on our trip to Disney/Florida and they were awesome! Didn't have to worry about the formula going bad, and it took up much less space in our suitcases, bags, etc. I recommend them for trips, especially if you don't have a fridge. They are expensive though, so if you are going for a long time, I'd probably bring the normal canister + some powder packets.

We are headed to Florida next month and I'm thinkingn ahead to feeding lo. Right now we do powdered formula and I mix it up in a pitcher and keep in the fridge. Well, we won't be in a house, so no fridge. Should I get the powder packets or try ready to feed formula? Did they have trouble going back and forth? Also thinking of the drive down.
