@cake2017: I got the Hatch for DD last Christmas. I wanted something that didn't have an actual clock, so that I could adjust the wake-up! time to whatever I wanted. I also liked that it has a sound machine, because now we just have one piece instead of two for traveling to grandparents.

This is the one I got:
https://www.amazon.com/Hatch-Baby-Night-Light-Machine/dp/B06XMRCC94/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=hatch&qid=1575905239&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzVUZRVTY0Rlk1SzJEJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMjQ2MTU2M09KNFNIRkhIMUhDQyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNDIwMTE0MVlSQUJaSjNTQU5YUyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

but there is a hatch+ that has extra features. I only with the original hatch was battery powered! https://www.amazon.com/Hatch-Baby-Machine-Monitor-Nightlight/dp/B07WFXGNGF/ref=cts_ba_1_vtp

We use a wake clock with the potty exception just like previous posters. He can get up and go potty but has to go right back to bed afterwards. It has worked really well for us.

We used a little potty in his room until I got sick of cleaning it and just started letting him come out to pee.

We have always kept a tiny training potty in my son's room. He's 5 now and probably should not have it any more, but that's what he uses for any potty needs before his light is green.

I faced this same problem! We don't have the hatch, but we are very strict with not going in their room until it's wake-up time. We ultimately decided to allow them to get up from their beds on their own to go potty, and then return to bed until it's wake-up time.

I was extremely skeptical of this working out in the beginning but it is actually working out really, really well. The girls always go back to bed. As an added bonus, we don't have to make a bathroom stop in the hectic morning routine when we wake them up because they've already gone on their own!

FWIW, our girls are in beds they can easily get in and out of, and their bathroom is right next to their bedroom. They also know how to wipe independently. They are 3.5 years.

My son is almost 6 and we’ve brought back the damn clock because he’s a super early riser. We tell him if his clock isn’t yellow but he has to pee he can go do that but then has to go back to bed.

My DD is 3 (today!) and we are heavy into potty training.

She has a Hatch, which is a light/sound machine, which changes color when its "wake up time". This has been working great for the past year, she understands it, even if she hates it. (sometimes yelling at it to "TURN GREEN!!")

However, the past few weeks, she's been waking up two hours early, screaming & crying. I don't go in until the light is green, so this can be a long frustrating morning. The past few mornings, she has also been telling me that she needs to go potty; and this morning she did poop in her diaper and was then very upset about it.

So I have two 'trainings' competing against each other... sleep training vs potty training. How do I handle this?
