It looks like the Lowe’s ones were cancelled nationwide last year but Home Depot still has them. I may have to go in January! Thanks for the tip!

@Becky: not sure about lowes but Home Depot does free kids workshops the first Saturday of each month. They build a little project and decorate it- December's project is a wooden gingerbread house.

@jennypenny and @silva these are both great! I think I may go for one of the ones from Lowe’s and add a battery operated drill. I’ll have to look for those classes too.

My local Lowe's sells these super cute wood projects with different age ranges and a set of mini tools https://www.lowes.com/pl/Kids-tools-building-kits-Outdoor-games-toys-Outdoors/4294607591. I haven't tried one yet but I think they look amazing. Our Lowe's also has parent and me classes sometimes on the weekends.

My son has a race car that came with a working drill (for the bolts the toy came with) and he out the entire thing together himself with a drill.

I think the brand is "design and drill".

Might be a less scary option, haha. My son did request a real drill "because dad won't share his!"

I have a regular toolkit with some small and some big screwdrivers. The kids can handle the smaller ones, and can sort of kind of hammer nails. I still help with that bit though, if only to make sure no one's fingers get hammered.

We also have a kiddie tool set by Hape - not quite real tools, but pretty close.

I’m looking for a real toolset for my daughter. She really wants to build something, and the tools we have are all too big. I just want her to be able to hammer a nail and screw some screws in. In case this sounds terrifying I’m thinking along the lines of adventure playgrounds. Any recommendations for a toolkit that has reasonably sized items? Thanks!
