My daycare is in Chinatown and my LO is the only Asian in the infant class and there are no Asians in the toddler class either. And dirt cheap (in kind of a bad way). The man and woman running it were Chinese, though. </p> <p>Our area is not terribly diverse....there are only white kids in our LO's two in-home daycares. In Lala's classroom there are South Asian, Asian, Latino, and Eastern European kids, not to mention representation from Europe, Austrailia/NZ. My kids have always been the only or one of very few Asians until maybe age 2. We were the only Asian family and DD was the only Asian kid of over 60 kids that were participating today.</p> <p>We've never experienced discrimination or anything like that - we love the daycare and they love DD. I guess it just didn't seem so obvious until today that we really are a minority where we live! </p>
