For overnight sleep we put beach towels underneath (outside of the crib) just in case. Yeah my kids do not like the pack n play mattress at all. We've had to rig various contraptions to get them comfy. It has mesh all the way down and one of the sides unzips so they can get it and out. We love our Lotus crib. @Baby Boy Mom: The mattress is pretty thin, but not uncomfortable - I'm not sure how it compares to a pack and play though, as we don't have one. We used it on vacation for our 11-month old and it was fantastic.
