Thank you everyone!!!!

It is so much better this morning!!!
We did diaper free time which Btw is a bad idea when she has diarrhea.
I bathed in bath water with baking soda and same for diaper changes (no wipes!!) . I put a layer of coconut oil (fellow mom / HBer told me it has natural antifungal properties) then lots of desitin rapid relief on top.

Only a small red patch left this morning.

DH thinks I'm being paranoid but I'm going to sell the rest of our pamper wipes. We have a HUGE box we got from the shower. I didn't really like them anyway but was going to keep using them because they were free. Back to Huggies Natural Wipes!

@locavore_mama: No, they were dry cloths. We would wet them if she had a #2 but otherwise we would just wipe/pat the soiled area with the dry cloth. The pedi suggested cotton balls too.

We had a terrible diaper rash too and our pedi recommended air (which you're doing), and a concoction of 1 tube desitin, 1/2 tube bacitracin, and 1/2 tube lotrimin (athelete's foot creme) and apply 3 times a day. It worked really well. They also recommended only bathing every 3 days so the area is not overly moist. The other thing they suggested was not using wipes since they can be irritating. I found these cloth/paper wipes at CVS, similar to the ones they gave us at the hospital, and we supplied daycare with these and they used them no problem.

Hope LO's rash is better soon! Poor thing!! :(

When it's been that bad, I have called the ped and they will typically call in a rx for nystatin. It has been the fastest fix for us when in daycare and you have less control!

We just went through this and we used Vaseline on top of the nappy rash cream. It helps form a protective barrier between the frequent poops and her delicate skin. Ours took about three or four days to really clear up.....and we're still dealing with the trauma of nappy changing now, a week later (LO was so sore, it made her hate nappy changes and she's now a nightmare to change!)

Lots of diaper free time, washcloths, baking soda in bath, Triple paste.

From what the nurse told me the baking soda neutralizes acids and is supposed to be soothing. She also suggested mixing a few tbsps of baking soda in a few cups of warm water and using it and a washcloth to clean him after he pooped.

@locavore_mama: Haha. I'm not sure exactly, my pediatrician recommended it to me and it worked. Clotrimazole is a godsend for yeasty rash, we use it under our Buttpaste. LO's yeasty rash had little red dots and looked puffy.

If it's a yeasty rash clotrimazole should help. Under a cream with a zinc oxide base, like triple paste. Clotrimazole is available OTC and it's basically lotrimin. Same thing for athletes foot

We had this recently. Doctor said it was a combo of "toddler's diarrhea" and we had switched diapers (we had switched to Pamper's Cruisers from Swaddlers. Swaddlers so we are back). We threw some baking soda in her bath, stopped using any sort of wipes and just use washcloths + water to clean during diaper changes. Gave her some diaper free time like you are doing and asked our nanny to change her diaper a little more frequently during the diaper rash.

That was only the second time she got diaper rash and hers became yeasty so we did have to switch to treat for that.

This is only the second time LO has had this bad of a diaper rash. It started yesterday. Daycare said it bled a little today.

She has been pooping A LOT. It's very soft and loose.

But also over the weekend we were using all Pampers and Pamper wipes. She's usually on huggies diaper and wipes.

She's used other brand diaper and wipes before but never Pampers.

Thoughts and tips? Should I stop using the pamper wipes??

She's currently sitting diaper less on a soft blanket with a garbage bag underneath. Gonna put some a+d on it before bathing. Then lather uo desitin max at bedtime.
