Totally depends. My son was very fussy from the beginning. My daughter didn't really cry more than 20 seconds until she was about a month old.

Have you looked into wonder weeks? We coasted through the first one with no issues, but a lot of mums in one of my mother's groups had a lot of trouble with it. The second was so-so, the third was hard, and the fourth is a real struggle for us right now because it's a super long one paired with teething and the 4 month sleep regression!

the meaning of the tears change over time as well. Right now, you probably have a combo of being really lucky and you are awesome at meeting all her needs immediately so she doesn't have a need to cry! When she gets older, she will cry for many reasons other than wanting to be fed or changed.

Sadie has never cried much either. And even then, it was only fussing and not full-on crying. There will definitely be times where she will be so upset that nothing will do but crying/screaming -- shots, teething, etc.

K isn't much of a crier. I'd say 6-8 weeks was peak fussiness for us, and then only when she needs something. Now, at 7.5 months, she's getting sort of whiny.

My LO had peak fussiness from 6 weeks until 3-4 months old with colic. I remember that the nurse I talked to checking up on us said that the first month is the honeymoon month. She was completely right on that one. Once we got through colic, our next challenge was lack of sleep and self soothing. Sleep training fixed that around 6 months old.

DS didn't cry much for the first 3 weeks or so. He mostly just cried if he was hungry, and at diaper changes. Then he started having a witching hour around 6 weeks or so. Now at 4 months he mostly cries because he's either hungry, tired, needs to poop, or has been on his own too long (needs to be picked up). Other than that he's a pretty happy kid.

LO doesn't cry more than that, except maybe when she's over tired or when she wakes up at night. But the big change is the cry goes from cute and bird like to, um... NOT so cute, haha. Not much more crying, but much stronger lungs!

Zuma is SOOO cute btw. I love her mani!

It never really got worse for us. D has never been much of a fussy baby unless he is super pissed off. He's cried more in the last couple weeks than he ever has (we are trying to get him used to his crib). He's 6 months old now. Just enjoy it for as long as you can.

everyone told me the first 3 months were the roughest, and that 6-8 weeks is the peak of fussiness, but my baby really never fussed until she reached 3.5 months when she really found her vocal cords. the past few weeks she's been crying a little more, but i assume (hope) she's just going through a little phase. Don't worry, you'll know when your baby has hit that phase ;)

N didn't really cry much as an infant. He cries more as a toddler, but I think it is just because he is frustrated. He was a laid back infant tho, and he is generally pretty happy. E on the other hand is a lot more fussy but not bad.

Depends on the kid. C cried nonstop unless she was asleep (she even cried while eating) for the first 3.5 months, then stopped overnight and has been awesome since.

I know a kid who was super chill for the first 4 months (did nothing but sleep) and then flipped and still hasn't stopped crying all the time... she's almost 2.

Some kids cry the whole time. Some kids never do.

You can never tell. There really isn't a "normal". It's all a waiting game. The minute you pat yourself on the back for having escaped a fussy baby, that's when it hits. lol

But you might just be REALLY lucky!!

Eta I mean she WILL have more varied needs that she cries for (developmental leaps, periods of resisting sleep probably, certain teeth, colds, blahblahblah) but she could just be a laid back kiddo.
