I think my kids get exposed to way more than what I could provide adequately at home, whether it's with socialization w/ peers and adults, crafts/manipulatives, basic skills, manners, etc. </p> <p>Also I've noticed in the past couple days my son has gotten way more verbal! He just started using 2 word sentences. This was from just moving up to the Toddler class on Tuesday! It's amazing. At 20 months, she's a sponge, and it's amazing to see these people fostering her development. </p> <p>Then there are all of the things she doesn't bring home, but mean so much!! DS naps so much better at school. He eats better at school. He has learned SO much- I'm constantly surprised by what he comes home talking about. I wouldn't ever have taught him all that. And I'm convinced that he potty trained himself because the other kids at school were starting. Easiest transition ever. He's constantly surprising me with the knowledge he brings home.<br /> - He loves his teachers<br /> - He gets way more socialization at daycare than he ever would if I were a stay at home mom.<br /> - He's excited about going to the daycare in the morning. </p> <p>Honestly, I haven't really ever found it super hard to take him there. He probably wouldn't get that home with me plus he loves bringing them home. Also this week is community helpers week so they have had visits from policeman and his dog, fireman and got to hold the firehouse, rescue squad and they got to tour an ambulance! She gets to experience taking direction from a variety of personalities. She was potty trained in a week at daycare with basically no involvement from me (high five teachers! — we've only had one accident since that week). There is absolutely no way I would be able to provide that for him if I stayed home. Also I've done both daycare and nannies and the biggest reason why I prefer daycare is that I can pick him up and leave! Nannies always take too long to leave my house and I only have a few precious hours a day to spend with DS when he is awake. Once it got kind of heated when I was rushing to leave for vacation on a Friday after work and the nanny refused to leave. I had to finally snap at her! Xander's made some really close friends and he loves his teachers. He's also learned soooooo much and has amazing vocal skills because of daycare. He's also polite!! Always says "thank you" and says "please" a good portion of the time. He wakes up in the morning telling us what a great day he's going to have at preschool, and on the drive home, during dinner and bath, and while we're cuddling before bed he loves to tell me about his friends, and what he ate, and what he played with. He insists on visiting his old classroom every afternoon to hug his old teachers and his old friends that are still there. LO is just on week 2 of daycare and hasn't fully transitioned yet (from nanny @ 11mo) but we LOVE it! And I was raised by a SAHM who always gave me the impression that daycare was for kids whose parents didn't care enough. She gets great socialization, her teachers love her (already!), she gets to learn so much (they all sit at a little table for meals and it's adorable), she's doing art projects already, gets lots of outdoor time, and I'm hoping we'll build a support network! Our daycare is also Montessori, which wasn't something I was actively looking for, but now that we are in it, I really like most of the principles. I drop him off knowing that he is being watched after by people who care about his happiness as much as I do. </p> <p>I'm absolutely certain that he is learning WAY more in daycare than he would home with me or with a grandparent. </p> <p>He socializes really well, and has no problem being around new people.</p> <p>I love all the crafts he makes.
