E was all about the eating and drinking (we started with a straw cup) from a really young age, but he didn't start stacking blocks/cups until closer to (or just after) a year. Maybe 13 months? And I think that was about when he started to clap on his own, too. Before that he would clap our hands together. Does your LO wave yet? Our pedi told us that she often sees LOs doing one of the other earlier, depending on which you model more (and I think he was about a year when he started to wave, too). He's 21.5 months now and sometimes do 2-3 piece puzzles, but mostly doesn't care about them (he's rather help me cook!)

I don't know about the stacking cups, blocks puzzles. LO is 13 months and just plays/throws his toys around. The only thing he was doing at 10 months in the list was clapping. I think he had just started the sippy cup but I was not consistent about using it. He still doesn't eat from dish, I just put food pieces on his tray or hand it over to him.

Every kid is different :)

We didn't do any cup stacking. I actually have no idea what that is! But LO was interested in knocking over stacked blocks than stacking them him self at 10 months.

Did not really get puzzles till about 15 months.

He did eat on his own by 10 months but I think it is because he is stubborn and did not like us feeding him. I think he thought we were giving him baby food and not the good stuff aka what we were eating.

Not a big water drinker from sippy cups would rather have milk from a bottle at 10 months. :)

He did clap also but we clap a lot to cheer him on so I think that has a lot to do with that... Seriously we clap A LOT.

My daughter did not stack cups and learn to do puzzles until closer to two. Her gross and fine motor skills have always been on the slowest end of normal. If your child could not do those things in a year, you might have cause for concern.

-stack cups and stack blocks: I don't think we have blocks and cups for him until closer to 1 year...

-put puzzle pieces in, like Melissa & Doug style puzzles
Not advanced puzzles, but he attempted to do those simple plastic shape puzzles that are blocks which inserts into a box. I don't think he figured it out completely by 10.5 months. I can't remember.

-eat out of a dish (instead of you handing them foods 1 by 1)
I remember he was eating out of his tray for the longest time because he went through a phase of serious food throwing and I was reluctant to get him dishes or he'll throw the whole thing on the floor. We didn't get dishes for him until closer to 1?

-drink substantial amounts of water, from a sippy or regular cup
Definitely not a substantial amount. He suddenly started doing that out of the blue at 11-ish months when we got the right cup for him. (a straw cup). He won't even drink from a bottle afterwards.

-clap
Yes

I would say don't worry because your list is for older babies / young toddlers it seems!

My LO is 10 months old as of today, and he doesn't do most of that, haha. He has clapped before, but not consistently. He drinks water from a straw cup and he eats out of a dish if I hold it down (otherwise he picks it up and tries to eat the dish, lol) everything else, no. He just started waving consistently in the past week.

@MoonMoon: 10 to 11 months was a crazy time, my daughter learned something new seemingly everyday. That was when she started really being "teachable" too. I could show her something and she'd figure out how to do it. Her receptive language exploded. I'm sure your LO will be clapping soon. It's a really fun time watching them figure it all out!

@MoonMoon: I'm pretty sure clapping is the only thing on that list that he "should" be doing by a year. For example, stacking blocks comes after being able to put things into containers. Stacking 2 blocks by 15 months or so is a more reasonable expectation.

I don't exactly know what stacking cups is. He puts cups inside of other cups. Is that what that means? He didn't start doing that until around 12 months. clapping hands around 11 months. waving around 11 months. he's 13 months and doesn't put any puzzle pieces in. Not even close. He's been able to eat off of the tray with his hands since about seven months, but that's the only thing he was doing out of your list at 10 1/2 months. And my pediatrician says he's ahead on almost all skills. What is making you worry about these particular things? Is it something that you read he should be doing a book? Or that your doctor said?

She didn't stack cups or put puzzle pieces in. I still don't even buy puzzles. She was on mostly purées until a year. I think she clapped. I don't know when she started stacking blocks but I would guess around a year.

All babies are different. None of those is alarming IMO! Of course keep watching but don't freak out before there's actually a problem.

I have been worried about a lot of DD milestones, but she is just a late bloomer.
-stack cups- 12months
-stack blocks- we dont have any blocks :/ maybe i should het some!
-put puzzle pieces in, like Melissa & Doug style puzzles- almost 16 months and does not do this
-eat out of a dish (instead of you handing them foods 1 by 1)- 13 months but only if that dish is attached otherwise it all goes on the floor, she mostly just eats off the table or highchair tray
-drink substantial amounts of water, from a sippy or regular cup- 9 months or so, for awhile she would mostly take sips and spit it back out for fun. 14 months she lost interest in her straw cups so I got differnt ones and now she drinks a ton
-clap-11.5 months, I worried so much about this, and almost didnt notice she was clapping when she finally started. But it wasnt constant she stopped and then started again around 13 months.
ETA Sometimes we have to watch how many peices of food we give her cause she is a stuffer, she stuffs it all in at once and then gags. But its not all the time.
