My chihuahua can be skittish and doesn't like men very much either. I think deep voices are really unsettling to her. A guy has to stay for a while before she'll warm up.

My one-year-old lab became super insecure for about a week after we moved. She became upset if I left her and always wanted me in sight. If she hadn't gotten over it, I definitely would have hired a trainer because I want her to be the wonderful dog I know she can be. In fact, we are planning to hire one to prepare her for our baby's arrival.

If your puppy is very adaptable, she might adjust once she gets settled in. But if it persists, I would get help because fear-based issues seem difficult to overcome without a pro.

No experience (our dog is actually scared of men, but was abused so it's related to that), but hopefully someone will have some advice! Bump!

Hi!
So we just made the big move from the city to the suburbs. Along with the stress of moving, our 9 month old lab/beagle rescue has been not herself. Ever since the movers showed up, she is barking/fearful of men. Once they kneel down and coo to her, she runs over (she looooves people and is extremely social). But if they are frightened and get stiff, the barking just get worse (and it is looooud).

We actually had a potential dog walker by the house (male) and her barking sent him away after 60 seconds (don't even get me started on that...)

Anyone go through this with their "adolescent" dog? I want my old puppy back!
