We use them on regular dining room chairs, but we've also used them on bar stools (with backs) at our bar, and on the floor at a friend's house. We use them with or without the tray, depending on the kids' moods and where we are eating (kitchen vs dining room table). At 1.5 she started fighting/refusing/backbending/screaming at the high chair/booster seat, so we caved and got her a big girl chair, and now she is very content to sit at the table again. I have a very long slim toddler (he's 17 months, 22 pounds, and he still wears 12 month pants) and he's had zero issues sitting in it since he was a year old (when he was wearing 9 month old clothes and weight 19-ish pounds). Something easy to clean/ wipe down with an optional tray seems best.<br /> we currently use a hook on chair for the toddler but she is starting to fight it and I don't feel like arguing.
