She has been sitting in it since 5 months. We will eventually take out the legs and use it as booster to strap onto our dining chairs (she's a little short for that right now).

Then with #2 later we can go back to the start and use it again!

Our DD has this one and fits into it well at 22 months, but she's a tiny bit on the small side. However we LOVE it.

@SweetiePie: I think we can get away without a stand alone high chair. I figure if we need both contained at once we can use the hook on and the booster seat, but probably won't need both for long since C will be 3 by the time G is ready to start solids. And if we do need two for long I could buy a second booster for less than the full high chair.

@Foodnerd81: I have the same one @gingerbebe: and others have mentioned. It's at my parents house and I love it! I actually love it as much as our full sized highchair.

Actually come to think of it, the full sized I have is the Graco Blossom 4-in-1 and it has a booster that can be strapped to a chair that comes WITH the highchair. So if you think both LOs will need mealtime containment at the same time, that's an option too. I believe it has 2 booster options.

We use/d FP deluxe booster seat with both girls from the start. Never used any other type of high chair. DD1 was sitting in a regular chair by around 2? DD2 will probably take a little longer. She's a litte more antsy in the pantsy!

@brownepiano: yeah ours never reclined anyway. I don't plan on starting solids before 6 months again and with C I just put some blankets behind her to move her closer to the tray at that point. So this is a step up anyway.

@Foodnerd81: I got it at a year ish. If your kids can sit up by themselves it should be fine. It's not going to recline like some highchairs. But if you're using a lobster seat you're used to that not being an option.

I love that it is easy to bring with us anywhere!

@Foodnerd81: Ok, one other random suggestion, what about a toddler table and chair? We used that in between the high chair and junior chair successfully, until LO started standing on the table (and its now put away for a few months).

We have the same one @gingerbebe: posted in her first post. We've used it for my twins since they were 14 months old and rejected their previous high chairs (which were graco space savers). We use them on regular dining room chairs, but we've also used them on bar stools (with backs) at our bar, and on the floor at a friend's house. We use them with or without the tray, depending on the kids' moods and where we are eating (kitchen vs dining room table). We love them!

@Ash: @MrsBeluga: right now we don't have a table, we just at at the counter to eat, so those chairs are too short for now. Down the line we will move and have a proper table and chairs so I'm looking for something that will work both ways. The IKEA chair does look really nice but too short.

Not exactly what you need, but we have an IKEA junior chair for our 2 yr old, she can get in and out of it on her own, and she really loves it! At 1.5 she started fighting/refusing/backbending/screaming at the high chair/booster seat, so we caved and got her a big girl chair, and now she is very content to sit at the table again. She will generally sit and eat for around 20 minutes, before becoming distracted and leave to play, which we are okay with since she is 2.

The tray has 3 settings so it can be pulled further in or out. I have a very long slim toddler (he's 17 months, 22 pounds, and he still wears 12 month pants) and he's had zero issues sitting in it since he was a year old (when he was wearing 9 month old clothes and weight 19-ish pounds). I'm confident he could have sat in it sooner.

This is the one we have - http://www.gracobaby.com/products/pages/duodiner-highchair-hudson.aspx

I'm not sure if it's too big for what you're looking for, but it has been great for both our girls at different stages.

We bought this guy:

http://amzn.com/B004C43JJ4

Its light, folds down for easy transport, its cheap, and I've yet to find a chair I can't strap it to. It doesn't have shoulder straps like our clip-on lobster had, but if you're supervising an infant, I doubt that will be a problem.

Can you recommend a seat that I can strap into a high back counter stool and pull up to the counter for my 2.5 yo, but ideally can be used down the line on a regular chair as a high chair for the baby when she starts solids? Something easy to clean/ wipe down with an optional tray seems best.
we currently use a hook on chair for the toddler but she is starting to fight it and I don't feel like arguing. But I do still want to be able to strap her into it so she can't get up during meals because she gets distracted!

Also, when did your LO start sitting in a regular chair, no booster or anything?
