We have radian 120s that we got for about $200 each, and I really love them. Extended rearfacing and use as a highback booster down the line sold me. We've had ours for nearly a year and I have no complaints. Very easy to install and adjust in our van and truck and the kids are comfy. The straps are the ratcheting type, which is different than our bucket seats, and I did need the angle adjuster foam pads to get the best install, just fyi.

We have this one: http://www.diapers.com/p/recaro-performance-ride-convertible-car-seat-sapphire-826011?site=CA&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=cpc_D&utm_term=RC-071&utm_campaign=GooglePLA&CAWELAID=1926790236&utm_content=pla&ca_sku=RC-071&ca_gpa=pla&ca_kw=%7Bkeyword%7D

and I LOVE IT. I was hesitant. I had my eye on the diono radian and wanted it very badly, but when this one went on sale and I had a $20 off coupon, the price couldn't be beat. And I'm glad we chose this one. You mentioned the straps - and they could not be easily to adjust and buckle! We had a different convertible seat prior to this and the straps drove my bonkers. It was impossible to loosen them. These are so easy. I also love how cushy the seat is - that's funny to say, but it seems so comfortable. It is really easy to install, we use the latch system.

As for the size, you can RF for up to 40 lbs, and 22.5" seated height. J is 24 months, about 27 lbs and 34"ish inches - and he's nowhere NEAR the height limit. So I think he'll fit RF for a long time.

The only complaint I have at all is that it's a little difficult getting him in/out because we have a small car. But it's really not even that big of a deal. If we had an SUV it wouldn't matter at all.

We have a Nextfit and Foonf. The Nextfit is SO hard to tighten the straps. I heard it is easier when it is FF. The love the Foonf. R loves seeing out the window, and so easy getting her in and out. It is pricey but we got on sale on amazon for 280.

We have the recaro proride and love love love it. It's really good for tall LOs (mine outgrew bucket seat at 5mo) and good for the climate. It also offers side impact protection and it's not too expensive.

@lawbee11: Also helpful! I know you're in the same climate as me, so that's something I'll have to consider

@Bookish: Ok we haven't actually used it yet, but we have the Maxi Cosi Pria and it looks so comfy!! One of the main reasons we got it is because a lot of the reviews I read said the fabric is great for warm weather climates. It's really breathable. I've heard that Britax seats aren't great for warm weather, and my LO runs warm as it is.

Britax is known for being easy to install and easy to adjust the straps, but, if you're going for extended rear facing, you might not get as far as you planned.

My son was rearfacing in a Britax Boulevard until he was 32 months old, then we had to switch him forward as he was just too tall for it rearfacing.

So consider that as well.

@Bookish: it's a pain to loosen it once they grow out of certain setting, but i've had no trouble with tightening!

@mrsjyw: Good to know! How easy is it to tighten? That's my main beef with the MySize, it's incredibly hard to tighten up on her, which I think is ridiculous

i bought a britax advocate and pavilion on nobetterdeal.com in perfect condition for $350 for both! :) i would check there for carseats they have available! DS grew out of his infant carseat at 8 months and we made the switch! :) they're great so far! (he's almost 15 months) and still has plenty of room for growth!

The Graco recall yesterday was the last straw for me with my Graco MySize 70. It is hard to adjust, hard to tighten, and yep, hard to get that little buckle un-buckled!

We will soon need a second convertible seat, and there's no way I'm buying another of the MySize70.

Can you all recommend a seat for a biiig LO? She was 19lbs and 28.5in at 6 months (about to outgrow bucket seat by height, which is why I need another convertible), so I need something that's got pretty extensive height limits.

Any ideas? We'll be putting the Graco in DH's car, since she's only in there sporadically, and I'd like to spend about 200-250$ max, if possible.

*ETA: It's the MySize, not the MyRide. Oops
