We ended up getting a Ford Flex and we love it. Ours is not AWD, but the sucker is so heavy I imagine we won't have any trouble in the snow. There is a ton of room in the back (if you put the 3rd row down). We put 2 small suitcases, 2 big suitcases, a cooler and an 80 pound dog in the back on a recent trip. It was behind the passenger seat and I had plenty of room (5'7"), when I drove DH (6'2") had enough room but would've preferred a little more. This is my first time owning a SUV, so it took a little getting used to, but the car handles really well, feels very sturdy and safe and has so many awesome features (remote start, back up camera + sensors, voice command, etc) There is plenty of space for my LO's convertible carseat and the trunk is huge as well. Not to mention, the car looks super aggressive from the front. I remember years ago when we got a massive dump of snow, the CAA (Canadian AAA) truck got stuck and I sailed by no problem.
