I guess I can't "recommend" it because I haven't tried it yet, but I've heard a lot of people like this one and I am planning on getting one now that I'll be running after two kids. I don't want to be lugging my old cross-body Diaper Dude bag anymore.

Thanks everyone for these ideas!

@cam: @Foodnerd81: that is pretty much what i want! Also found some similar ones by searching that bag on amazon.

@jhd: love the polka dots! Possibly a little bigger than what we need but i will check it out.

@LuLu Mom: @SweetCaroline: I like these too! I def need one that is gender neutral so DH can carry it.

@MrsSRS: I have never been to Aldi! I keep hearing such good things, I may have to finally check it out.

We have this one...tons of color choices, great pockets, including a little one on the strap I stow my keys in. We use this for the daycare backpack.

We have this one, and it's perfect. WE have 2 kids, drink holder on each side, smaller pockets I keep my phone in, outside pocket for diapers/wipes, and big interior for whatever is needed. $34 and I used a 30% off so got it for a steal.

@cam: that's the exact one I was going to suggest. It's a bit small for a full on diaper bag but for a preschooler where you just need a few things it's perfect.

I have an under armor bag (storm, I think) and it works but even for a baby and a toddler it's a little bigger than I prefer.

I got this earlier this year for travel, trips to the zoo, etc. it has lots of pockets, but might be bigger than what you are looking for.

ETA I chose the polka dots :)

Not sure if you're open to something kind of sporty but I like Eddie Bauer bags. I don't have this one but I have a duffel from there that is great. Very light. http://www.eddiebauer.com/product/stowaway-packable-daypack/82302377/_/A-ebSku_0232377062__82302377_catalog10002_en__US?showProducts=&backToCat=Backpacks&previousPage=GNAV&tab=gear&color=855

Does anyone have a regular backpack that you like and use as a diaper bag/bag for going out with your preschooler? I'd ideally like something with interior pockets and at least one exterior drink holder pocket, and not particularly large or heavy. Bonus for being in the $30 range.

This seems totally basic and I'm scoping back to school options on amazon but not seeing what I want.
