@Mae: Again, I'd recommend the DIY BWing group on FB. They'll be able to make fabric recommendations for you.

@Foodnerd81: Yea I just can't see spending that much for a sakura bloom. They are gorgeous but omg lol. All the ones I looked at were at least 85+! For someone who has been sewing since I was 4 years old, I can't do it for a rectangle of fabric. I am pretty set on going to the fabric store and picking out some of my own to DIY something. :)

@Mae: Yeah, I definitely agree having something so quick and easy would be great. I just can't decide if it would be $100 great...

Oh, and I'm not having another baby for a couple of years at least! :)

@Foodnerd81: I definitely plan to learn how to use the other slings too! And who knows which I will like best. But I was thinking especially for really quick trips (like running into a grocery store) I might appreciate the ease of slipping on a ring sling so I wanted to add it to the mix :)

@Mae: I have never used a ring sling, though they sound awesome from the ladies on here. I'm just chiming in to say I got really good, really fast, at tying the Moby. I was very intimidated but after the first 2-3 times I got really comfortable with it.

That said, I would consider some kind of ring sling for the next LO, since the Moby did still take a minute or two to tie, and I did get a little annoyed with it sometimes. But it was the only way to get C to sleep as a teeny baby so I will forever love Moby.

I would get a Sakura Bloom. But you might want to try them out first. I foun them uncomfortable and restrictive in the store. I ended up getting a mei tai instead (which is what your DH is wearing).

Thank you for all these thoughts! SBP is not taking orders right now because she is so backed up with orders. I was on the Maya Wrap site though and they have instructions on DIY too. I'm somewhat tempted to try... I didn't realize slings would be like, $100 for a pice of fabric and 2 rings hah. The question definitely is though, if I go that route, what fabric?! A lot of places seem to use cotton batik and that makes sense to me for non-stretchyness and super softness. Plus being very cool for a summer baby. I would think it wouldn't be strong enough for a toddler, but for the first year it should be good..? Still, diy'ing is a little scary just because you don't know for SURE which fabric is tried and true.

I love my wrap conversion RS. Feel free to PM me if you want more info. If you want to buy premade, I would say Sakura Bloom, Maya or Comfy Joey. I'm wary of DIY RS because most fabric isn't strong enough/safe. If you want to make your own check out the DIY BWing group on FB...they are experts!

Oh, and I think the other carrier that you have above is the Infantino mei tei :)

My favorite ring sling is my unpadded Taylor made Ring Sling my mum bought from the hospital gift shop. It fits great in my diaper bag and I love that the fabric is so pretty. It is my favorite carrier for outside the house. In the house with DS#2 I love my baby bjorn carrier. Here is the link to the ring slings that I love!

Mine is different color because it is older but I love these!

I just bought the sakura bloom linen sling and I love it. So soft. And DD (who is 2) loves it and it's comfy to wear her. And I can't wait to use it with LO #2 any day now.

I have a maya wrap ring sling and I love it. It has a pocket on the end so I can throw my car key and cash/credit card in it if I'm just running into the grocery store or something with D. It's easy to pop him in and out. It's my favorite carrier.

I am due in May and plan to do a lot of baby wearing. I have two hand me down carriers from a friend, one is a moby wrap and the other I don't know what it is... attaching a picture of my husband goofing around with it and our cat. Both seem like they might be a little hard to get on/situated by myself though. I was thinking I might like a ring sling especially for newborn days when I'm sort of generally overwhelmed... because they seem much easier than the others to use.

I don't know where to start though. Are all ring slings the same? Should I just DIY? (I do sew and I've seen I think NavyMom's post on where to get the proper rings). Is there a preferred vendor most people use? Or should I not even get a ring sling initially and figure out how to use the other two alone right from the get go?
