I am so going old school when we replace our washing machine. Don't get me wrong, I like the water conservation idea of the new machines, but the long cycles? No thank you. I much prefer to be able to finish a load in less than a half hour.

We love our speed queen though it's only been a couple months. I was drawn to their promise of durability. Hoping to get 15-20 years out of it.

We bought this one for our beach place (so lots of heavy loads of beach towels, guest towels, bedding, etc) and liked it a lot.
The lack of an agitator freaked me out at first but it worked really really well.

We bought an LG top loader and dryer last summer and love it. We purchased the steam option and I'm glad we did - we've used it multiple times. It also has a delay cycle that we use more than I thought we would. Plus, it has a huge capacity. We considered getting a Speed Queen, but I didn't want an agitator because I wanted more space, especially for when we wash bedding. We can fit pretty much anything in there so I don't have to run to the laundromat to wash things like large blankets or sleeping bags.

3rd Samsung top loading washer here. We bought a new set (the one with the built in sink) almost 2 years ago when we moved to our new house. It's worked really well so far, but it's almost too deep for me and I'm short (5'2") so I need a little stool occasionally to reach the random socks stuck at the bottom. Also, I don't use the sink as much as I thought I would. It doesn't fill with hot water, only cold, so when I do oxi clean soaks for stains, I need to get hot water from the kitchen sink to dissolve the powder. Oh, and one more thing, but it's probably just because the water pressure in our neighborhood sucks, but we can't use the bedding cycle because it gives us error messages every time we try. So we have to be super careful how we load sheets so it doesn't get unbalanced.

@gingerbebe: I also have a Samsung top loader that I really like. I've had it for about 5 years with no problems. I'll update this in a bit with the exact model. I believe that when I bought it, it was well-rated by Consumer Reports.

I went from a front loader to top loader recently and I'm so glad! I have a Samsung HE top loader and it's great. I'll try to find the exact model.

We need to buy a new washer dryer set and we are looking for a toploading machine.

We are moving on from a front loading HE Kenmore set that I've absolutely loathed. The mold, the noise, the walking, the freakishly long cycles, ugh.

I honestly want an old school agitator machine of yesteryear (and thus considering a Speed Queen) but open to HE toploaders that anyone can recommend. Looking at reviews online is overwhelming me!
