I don't have it yet, but we will be getting the Nuna Sena Mini to use as a bassinet in the bedroom for the first few weeks, and then as a travel crib (my parents live nearby, so it will likely come with us to their house quite a bit). We really like the slightly smaller size, though I know we will grow out of it quicker.

@nana87: Yeah, it's definitely heavier and harder to set up-- though not horrible or anything. But since it's going to be such a short term solution it doesn't seem worth buying new. Check Craigslist, maybe? The hotels we have stayed in gave us PnP, but never with the bassinet part (which was fine since she was getting too big for it by then anyway).

@Anagram: ooh the zipper door is intriguing...

@ShootingStar: @Foodnerd81: hmm a pnp with the bassinet insert might be the way to go...i've heard that they're heavy and harder to set up though? I do hate to buy something new now since she's already over 12lbs but I don't think we know anyone near us that would have one we could borrow, most our friends don't have kids yet...

Our regular pack and play had the bassinet level so she was higher up, though you can only use that up to 15 pounds I think, and only before baby can sit up. We used that when we were still putting her down asleep-- I agree it's impossible to put a sleeping baby all the way on the floor like that. I wonder if you have any friends with a regular PnP that you could borrow, since it would really only work for a short time?

@Alivoo01: both! next trip is to a hotel, but we're also probably going to visit my in-laws soon as well. we'll def have to strategize options, thanks for the ideas!

@spaniellove: ugh why is everything so close to the ground?? I mean, I get that that is more useful in the long term, but for now...

A regular PnP with a bassinet insert would work. I wouldn't spend a whole lot on it because you'll only be able to use the bassinet until LO can sit up on their own. After that it's too dangerous. I'd get the most basic one you can find, or even 2nd hand. Something like this - http://www.target.com/p/evenflo-babysuite-select-blue-koi/-/A-15126002#prodSlot=_1_1.

@nana87: hmm...we have the lotus crib and it's close to the ground but has a zipper door. Personally, I never use the zipper but my husband does when LO sleeps badly. He'll lay on the floor next to her and rub her back till she falls asleep. And then he sloooooowwwwwwwllllly zips it.

But I'm paranoid of the noise of the zipper so I just try to drop her in the crib (but my arms aren't long enough and usually she falls the last inch or so).

Someone should make a travel crib with a noiseless zipper door!

Are you going to a hotel or staying with friends/family? If at a hotel, maybe request for a crib in the room or get a room with double beds so that your LO can have a bed?

If you're staying with friends/family, what about making a floor bed for your LO? That way the transfer is easier and more fluid than a steep drop to place your LO on the bed portion of the a travel crib?

@nana87: It's basically a high end Pack n Play made of nicer materials and easier to fold. If I were actually traveling I think I'd have to get something else and unfortunately everything I've found has the sleeping surface closer to the floor!

I have the Nuna Sena and love it! It's very easy to set up, but I'm not sure how easy it would be to travel with due to it's weight - 25 lbs.

Do you have a travel crib that doesn't have the baby sleeping at floor level that you'd recommend?

We have a Baby Bjorn one that we were gifted and while it's easy to set up and fairly light, it's a major PITA to transfer lo into it when she's already asleep since the mattress is so low to the ground. We were out of town a few days last weekend and she woke up almost every time we tried to transfer her--that + 4 month sleep regression = very tired and cranky lo and me! We're going out of town again next month and I'd love to find one where the baby sleeps higher up.

I was looking at the Nuna Sena online--does anyone have it? Is it easy to use? We have friends that just did this research and are going with the Lotus bassinet but lo sleeps in a crib so the rocking feature seems unnecessary...

Also I know I "should" be putting her to bed drowsy but awake, and if I did it wouldn't matter if she was so low, but that doesn't work for us. I nurse/bottle feed to sleep or rock and she had amazing night-sleep before this regression (like, 7pm-6am!) so I don't want to change what I'm doing...
