I live in the mountains of Utah, so similar climate.

I bought these last year and they worked really well both at home and at a ski trip in Sun Valley, Idaho:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HGAGHWW/ref=twister_B00HGAC0NM

I find I don't need anything more than that for walking around the city or ski towns. If you need something more for sledding, or actually playing in the snow I would go for the taller version.

I bought Sorel Joan of Arctic last year, and they are extremely heavy, as an FYI.

@LCTBQE: I agree about the Bean boots, it kind of depends on what conditions you'll be in. Mine are shorter, so they're awesome for a few inches of snow and trudging through slush (which is the main issue I face). I don't often go walking through snow banks or play in the snow.

Second for Bean boots, super cute, but to me they're more bad-weather boots than "trekking through 8 inches of snow" boots. I have the Kamik Brooklyn boots for that, and like them--very warm/comfy and made for snow days. They're $95 from zappos.
ETA I've tried on a couple pairs of Sorels and found them to be incredibly heavy and stiff, although they have a reputation for being high-quality.

I really love my Bean boots, but they can be hard to find this late in the year.

These aren't as cute, but are $120 and not almost sold out.

Sorels are supposed to be pretty good.

These are on sale if you're a size 6 or 7!

I'm going skiing in CO with my family in January. I don't have a snow or all-weather boot to wear because I live in the deep South and have no general need for one.

We're bringing my daughter (4 months) and I am not bringing her stroller, just a structured carrier, so I want to make sure I have good non-slipping boots for walking around.

Bonus if they're under $100 and decently cute. Thanks in advance!
