Thanks everyone! Sorry for the delayed response- was not at my computer for the past two days. I think I'll start with Healthy Habits and Happiest baby on the block DVD and see where I go from there. :)

My favorite sleep books were "Healthy Habits" (which is mentioned above) and "Sleeping Through the Night" by Jodi A. Mindell.

But by far the best resource I have found for sleep training is the Teaching Your Baby & Toddler to Sleep board on BabyCenter (http://community.babycenter.com/groups/a199215/teaching_your_baby_toddler_to_sleep). Not only are the ladies there super-supportive and informative, the instructional posts such as How to SUCCESSFULLY teach a baby to sleep (http://community.babycenter.com/post/a5417415/how_to_successfully_teach_a_baby_to_sleep_-_3rd_ed.) have been invaluable sources of information that I returned to again and again, and still turn to now when I have any sleep-related questions.

people also really love the baby whisperer. i read so many sleep books when i was sleep deprived that they are started to blend together!

I definitely agree with Happiest Baby on the Block. We've also read The No Cry Sleep Solution by Elizabeth Pantley and Sleeping Through the Night by Jodi A Mindell.

Here's the post!

http://www.hellobee.com/2011/09/23/sleep-training-part-1-how-we-night-trained/

I would read the Happiest Baby on the Block (actually get the dvd instead), and Healthy Habits. Happiest Baby is great for learning how to calm newborns, and Healthy Habits is great for understanding how sleep begets sleep.

So I'm less than a month away from my due date and was thinking of getting 1 or 2 sleep books and see if I could get started at least reading them before the kiddo comes. First, is this crazy? Second, any recommendations? I was thinking about starting out with the Marc Weisbluth "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child". But there seem to be so many books out there so I'm not sure. I could have sworn Bee wrote a post about this but I just can't find it for some reason. Any advice would be appreciated!
