If you go with AYSO you can order right off the site or at online registration. Walmart had the right size shin guards. I think there is an AYSO sale going on right now.

You really don't need much. Just cleats, shin guards, and soccer socks. She can just wear normal athletic shorts and shirts.

We did the Dick's package also. They had a choice between Umbro or Adidas. We did Adidas because he liked the colors better. Then, we just had to buy soccer socks.

Also, I don't know how familiar you are with soccer, but there are different sized balls. (I had no idea) Find out what size ball her league uses so she's practicing with the right size.

We just did this a couple days ago at Dick's. They had a package deal -- ball, shinguards and cleats for something like $35, which I thought was pretty good. It was for Umbro brand and I'm sure it will be fine -- not gonna be picky for a 5-year-old!

Not sure where you are but this past fall we got out ours at Dick's sporting goods. They had a package where if you bought cleats and shinguards you got a ball for free.

She will need cleats (soccer specific, no metal spikes), shin guards, and soccer socks. I always wore a short pair of regular socks under my shin guards, then soccer socks go over them. Make sure her cleats will fit over everything. And cleats should be snug, not big.

When I was a kid everyone wore umbro soccer shorts, not sure if they're still a thing. But they were lightweight and kinda slippery. Good for running I guess.

We are going to be starting soccer for DD1 in April. I want to start looking at equipment now as I've never played the sport and have no idea what she will need. She's 4.5 and we will need it all- cleats, shin guards, socks, shorts, etc.
