I LOVE Tana French books - they're mysteries set in Ireland. I don't typically like mysteries at all, but I couldn't put these down. And I just started the new Dan Brown book, and like most of his others, it's very gripping! And if you're into zombies, I loved World War Z!

@Adira: I was just going to suggest Delirium series by Lauren Oliver, I believe all 3 books are out (I have read Pandemonium the second book, but not he final one!) Also, Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver is great too!

3rd Gone Girl! Reconstructing Amelia was Gone Girl-ish and set in Brooklyn, which you might like. Also, The Interestings was really good.

@hilsy85: I second Life After Life - I really enjoyed it! I also liked The Interestings.

As far as YA books, I liked Divergent and Delirium and love the Graceling trilogy by Kristen Cashore.

@Chillybear: I was going to recommend Gone Girl, if you want fast paced-ish thriller type books.
For a more traditional beach read I just finished The Island, by Elin Hilderbrand. The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton was good-- kind of a family mystery, I guess, and Defending Jacob by William Landay is more like a Law and Order type story. (I just flipped back through the list on my Kindle)

The Divergent series is good-- it's no Hunger Games, but entertaining and very fast reading. Definitely YA!

If you like fantasy, I suggest The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss.

Mystery, read Before I Go To Sleep by S.J. Watson

Young Adult, Dystopians: Angelfall by Susan Ee, Divergent by Veronica Roth, and Delirium by Lauren Oliver,

Not sure the genre of these, but I loved these young adults: Everneath by Brodi Ashton, City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, and The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson

I read this book called The Sisters Brothers by Patrick deWitt and it was such a cute, easy and fast read. I really enjoyed it. It's a very strange dark comic western...

Ooooo I loved the Divergent series! Can't wait for the third book! I really like Jodi Picoult books. I don't think her books are "fun" but they are usually pretty easy reads. Her newest was amazing! Nicholas Sparks books are great for light beach reading too.

@Mrs. Bee: it's dystopian fiction... so more along the lines of the hunger games style. the plot is based in the future! it will definitely be a fast read because you won't be able to put it down. :)

For our upcoming trip to the Philippines. I like to read fun fiction on vacation. Last time I finished the dragon tattoo series (I'm behind the times).

What are some fun, fast-paced beach reads? They don't have to be recent...
