It's insanely lightweight and shatterproof. I feel pretty confident that it wouldn't do much damage in an accident. I loved it. When I went to our town's car seat check at the police department they told me to remove it. Said it can harm the baby in an accident but also said they are worse than texting while driving and cause more accidents. But I never felt like it was super safe and would become a projectile in an accident. It actually fell off the window recently, which proves to me that it was unsafe anyway. </p> <p>So, recommend the specific mirror you have and like please! We don't have a head rest in the middle seat where the car seat is, unfortunately. </p>
