@loveisstrange: Also have the Graco My Size 70 and we're really happy with it!

We got it on sale through Kohl's for $137. We have it in both a Honda Accord and a Toyota Corolla!

We love or maxi cosi pria, and I think I got it for about 200 on sale. It's really easy to install, doesn't take up a ton of space, and LO seems very comfortable in it.

I splurged on the Peg Perego. I'm sure there are a lot better/cheaper but I wanted something very safe and stylish. I love it! But, it is heavy for travel.

^ You might find that helpful. Sounds like people are recommending Radians with angle adjusters. I can tell you from owning one that it doesn't take up any more room RF than our infant seat did. And if a Radian will fit, you would probably also be OK with a Britax, or Graco Headwise/MySize/Fit4Me. Any of them are good choices, but the Graco would be easiest on the budget!

We are liking the Diono Radian RXT. Its $270 on Amazon right now. Its very tall, so LO has tons of room to grow, but we did have to buy the angle adjuster pad to boost it up so it wouldn't hit the front seats.
LO seems very comfortable in it. It also has the cool feature that is can fold in half to make it easier to carry (like in the airport).

@Mrs. Yoyo: I have a Nissan Versa. Nissan has tested all brands of car seats to see what fits and what doesn't, and only the Chicco booster fits in the Versa. she is about average height (26.5" at six months).

What car do you have? Is your LO short/tall etc? Believe it or not, the Nextfit is among the more compact car seats (at least if you're talking front-to-back RF as opposed to width). Here's a link that may help:

http://carseatblog.com/22818/the-ultimate-rear-facing-convertible-space-comparison-review-size-matters/

I have personal experience with the Britax Marathon and Diono Radian RXT. Britax seats are very nice and easy to use. I bought the Radian because my LO has a very long torso and outgrew the Britax rear-facing before he turned 2. It's not quite as easy to use but I love the extended RF and the low sides are very nice (I don't have to wrestle him in).

I have a Graco My Size 70 (also called the Headwise and Size4Me). I am really, really happy with it. Its great for extended rear-facing as it has one of the highest RFing limits on the market. Its light, easy to install, has the no rethread strap adjustments, and really good reviews. It's regularly on sale for about $150.

ETA: Ive installed it in a CRV, a Maxima, a Jetta, an Accord coupe and the backseat of my dad's Silverado with no issues.

After eight months, I think it's time to switch to a convertible car seat. H keeps trying to sit up in hers and car rides have become painful with all the screeching. Tell me what you like/dislike about your seat! I would prefer to pay less than $250.

ETA: The Chicco Next-fit is out because it doesn't fit in my car.
