Another vote for Janet Lansbury, but personally I don't have the attention span to read entire books anymore so I love her blog and podcast :)

@RonjaL7: My DH travels for work and I got him the audio version. I read it simultaneously so we could discuss.

I recently read "How to Talk so Little Kids will listen" and really liked it. There definitely been a few tips I've picked up that have been helpful with my 2-year-old. Things like instead of telling or asking her to go to the potty asking how to get there (fly like a bird or hop like a bunny?). So she still has choices but is only offered what you want her to do.

No bad kids, hands down. It's great for helping to set limits! I prefer the audio version so you can hear the tone of her voice when speaking to toddler.

Previously I would have said "No Bad Kids," but a friend recommended "The Whole-Brain Child" (I'm in the middle of it) and I'm loving it.

At the risk of sounding obnoxious, the key for us was BOTH reading the book. It helped for us to both decide on how we were going to handle situations like the one you mentioned above when we weren't in the heat of things. Boundaries are definitely important, but I think consistency among the primary caregivers is equally important.

I am a huge Janet Lansbury fan (esp for toddler discipline...I'm kind of meh on some of her suggestions re: infants). Check out her book No Bad Kids! :)

I know there are a lot of Janet Lansbury fans here like me! I think her book is called No Bad Kids? I didn't read it but read her blog and listen to her podcasts.

I also think that 1 choice is enough for them. If she changes her mind again I'd probably say, I see that you change your mind; maybe you can pick this one tomorrow then.

I know there isn't really a book for this parenting thing, but there must be some good ones out there.

I'm having trouble with setting limits and discipline with my 2 year old and I want to learn some new techniques.

For example, this morning I gave my daughter a choice of two pairs of shoes. She chose and I put them on, then she changed her mind and I switched them but before I could get the second one on she changed her mind again. My husband was like "absolutely not, she chose those and will wear those ones" and I was like "it only takes me a second who cares". I think I may have been in the wrong and would like some books to read that may help me in my approach to the kids.

Ideas?
