We skipped the small potty and went straight to a potty seat with an attached step stool. Similar to this one. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000AV5LZ8/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?qid=1456374339&sr=8-7&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=potty+seat

@snowjewelz: I didn't really miss the insert. It's not a big potty so it's not much different than just cleaning out the insert. I will say it took a while for DD to not sit on it backwards. I guess that might be an issue...? Wasn't a problem, just a quirk.

@snowjewelz: Xander's very petite (about to turn 3 and around ~10th percentile for weight and height), and it's a great size for him. He could definitely keep using it for another year or so if he wanted to, though he's been using the regular toilet more and more lately.

@Adira: I was looking at that one since it's a best selling one and cheaper than the BabyBjorn one! Do you think it's big though? Not that K will use it now, but she's not a big kid.

@oliviaoblivia: So it's actually better to you without the insert? Sorry for all the annoying questions!

@snowjewelz: nope. The three dollar green one. We bought one to keep in the car and find it to be just fine and then picked up another for the house.

We have two of the Summer Infant Lil' Loo Potty and we LOVE it. It's perfect. Very easy to clean, easy for a toddler to use, fairly small foot print. I'd highly recommend it!

We have a bjorn (upstairs bathroom) that seems fine. We hung a mirror in front of it, and he likes to sit on the potty and talk to himself in the mirror :)

For our downstairs bathroom, we have this:
http://www.amazon.com/Mommys-Helper-Contoured-Cushie-Count/dp/B000AV5LZ8

He likes it quite a bit and generally chooses to use the downstairs toilet over the upstairs potty chair.

We had the Bjorn and the white potty part cracked. Gross.
We then got two cheap IKEA ones. They're just as good. Within a month she was preferring the "big white potty." I much prefer not having to clean out the little ones. Flush that stuff!

We're nowhere near potty training, but since DD comes into the bathroom with us often, I want to get a potty for her in case she's interested in sitting on one too, to build up the association for later on.

I really like the summer infant realistic looking potty (just for aesthetics, lol). But do you have one you love? What should I look for in terms of practicality too?
