Thanks for the input! I don't think I'll use it much, so I'd rather just have a cheaper single pump and put our money (or our friends' money!) toward stuff that we need more. Although at BRU today they didn't have any single pumps so I don't know what we'll end up deciding now!

Medela Swing if you really want a single pump. I'm a SAHM and have the Swing. It definitely gets the job done, but I too wish I had gotten a double. Pumping is not fun, and I would love to be able to get it over with sooner! Maybe for #2 :)

So convenient and worked well.

I have a medela swing & it definitely gets the job done..... But I still wish I had gotten the double pump. I'm a sahm so I don't pump often but when DD goes & stays with my mom it would be nice to be able to pump both breasts at the same time before bed or in the morning... With only one it takes quite awhile & in the morning when I'm super full I normally end up hurting longer & leaking on the one "waiting" side. :-/

Why do you want a single pump? Even if you don't use it everyday, it's still so much more convenient to have a double electric. I use mine when my LO sleeps through the night and I wake up engorged and in pain. It would suck to only be able to pump one boob at a time! Also, mine has an option so if you do want to only pump one breast, you can.

We're planning to stop by Babies R Us and register tomorrow and I have not done much homework. If all goes according to plan, I'll be a SAHM and won't pump a lot, mainly just so I can leave the baby sometimes and I'd like the option of giving bottles when we're in places that I'm not comfortable BFing.

I thought I would stick a single electric one on the registry and if my insurance ends up paying for a pump I'll just return it. I found manual pump and hardcore pump threads but what about single? Any good or bad experiences?
