I gotta vote Starwood amex. when I worked at a top consulting firm it was the one everyone had. yes Starwood is a hotel company (Westin, etc) but you can convert to miles on most airlines and get a bonus (so 20k points becomes 25k miles upon transfer). you can read on their website the exact deals they have with every airline - there are a few that aren't 1:1 that might make it worth avoiding if they were your preferred airline. I used to be able to charge our NYC rent and all my business expenses and it was awesome.

I also use the points for hotels sometimes and like having the flexibility to not be tied to one airline. that said I have also totally signed up for different airline cards when they offered amazing deals (no fee for the first year, crazy miles upon spending $500 or something) and then cancelled after racking up the extra miles.

I also used to have a Delta amex just for the free bag check (made $ sense as a family, the fee was cheaper than all the bags we would check) but will ditch it once we don't fly Delta as much anymore.

I like Capital One Venture! You accumulate "miles" but they can be used as cash towards travel.

We just got the Capital One Venture card because you can redeem the "miles" for any travel expense like hotel, flight, car, or train. No blackout dates apply and you can use it for any company. They had a signing bonus if you charged $1000 or so the first month (we have a zero balance and always pay it off) and had a free flight in a few months which was awesome.

I have an AA one, and like it. Depending on where and when you fly, the sometimes offer reduced redemption miles to travel!

Agree with @Baby Boy Mom. I have an Alaska Airlines card too and while I have a ton of miles, it's really hard to redeem them as they don't really fly into Austin.

We used to have a Spirit Airlines card but they have so many restrictions on redeeming so we got rid of it!

I love the AAdvantage by Citi. In a year, I've racked up enough miles for two round trips to Asia.

I always look at this thread to get the best sign up bonuses:

We just got the Chase Sapphire Preferred card and so far I like it. With some bonus points we got plus regular spending, after a few months we were able to book two round trip cross country flights completely free. There is an annual fee after the first year, but the bonus points more than made up for the fee we'd have to pay for several years.

Looking to get a cc with airline mileage rewards.

Any recs?

DH and I use our CC for all spending and pay off monthly. We do have one card with gas rewards, but the other one needs to be replaced!
