Not for too long but that stage where she could crawl and get into things but couldn't climb or try to push it over. </p> <p>We had this one- I bought it on Craigslist, but it was actually a real pain to clean. I didn't think about using it to block an area off. That might work because we do have a corner of the living room set up as her play area.</p> <p>@Anagram: unfortunately our kitchen is blocked off from the living room so i wouldn't be able to see her. And its really tiny, barely enough room for both DH and I to be there together. And I never used play yards or gates. While I was cooking, I just let her play on the floor next to me or I would set her up with an activity in the living room (the kitchen is open to the living room).</p> <p>LO is 22 months now and we've never needed any of that. I would be more interested if we were in a large house and I were doing stuff in a whole other part of the house where I couldn't see/hear LO.</p> <p>Even from the bathroom off the living room, I can hear LO so I would just go to the bathroom while listening to what she was up to. It's really sturdy and we love it. Ours isn't a circle, but is used to block off a little area for him (so mounted to the wall). The nice thing is that he can't figure out the door open part yet - despite working on it almost daily. We were at a friend's house with another one and he figured out the door within like 10 minutes. Like the pic below. It's really sturdy and looks nicer than the big plastic ones.
