@mrskc: waterside restaurant and wine bar. If you sit on the patio you get a nice harbor view! Their seafood linguini was yum, but they also have steak and grilled fish too. Oh and creme brûlée :silly: they have a live band on the weekends I think.

The lookout bar and grill also has harbor views but more casual burgers and stuff.

Fresco Italian. I had a salad so idk about everything else but DH said his pasta was pretty good.

Toppers pizza or sura for Korean bbq and spicy tofu if you're looking for even more casual.

And cafe amri for breakfast/brunch even though I find embassy suites cook to order omelette and breakfast to be quite yummy.

Oh don't forget embassy suites has free alcohol during their happy hour every evening (I think 5-7?)

Also wanted to add that we were there last Christmas and it was not too cold to be at the beach at all. LO had a light hoodie on because he was getting over a cold, but DH and I were totally comfortable w/o a sweater. I hope you get great weather during your visit. I love it there!!!

sorry to just post and run this morning. Things got hectic today.

@birdofafeather: we were actually thinking about santa Monica. We had stayed at the Loews hotel and it was really nice. Shutters is a little too pricey for us. Ideally like to have a room with an ocean view.

@iluvboba637: La Jolla is a little farther than we wanted to drive. But mandalay beach in Oxnard looks like a good contender! Thanks. Any restaurant recs?

@woodentulip: ooh I forgot about trulucks if you like seafood. They're more upscale. Their crab cakes are delish! LO can eat mini hamburger sliders?

@woodentulip: in downtown la jolla, georges at the cove has the best view! promiscuous fork is also good. Eddie v's steakhouse is delicious! And prep kitchen has great sandwiches.

Have breakfast/brunch at storehouse kitchen or Henry's!

@woodentulip: which part of la jolla are you in? If you're near Uc San Diego there's lots of options at utc Mall.

If you like sushi, I recommend nozomi la jolla. They have great happy hour specials on many rolls before 6pm I think. LO will eat teriyaki chicken and rice or Gyozas.

There's seasons 52 which is more upscale, or lemonade which is more causal. Lemonade has great salads, soups, and pastas. And Mac and cheese for your LO?

Flemings and melting pot are always good.

Stella Italian is also pretty good.

All those are closer to Uc San Diego area. I'll make another post of locations closer to the beach.

@iluvboba637: Not wanting to threadjack but would love more La Jolla dining recommendations (here with kids though)...we ended up grabbing a crappy dinner tonight when we couldn't figure out our options! don't want to be in the same boat tomorrow!

I love embassy suites Mandalay bay ocean front resort but i don't know if there are dinner drinks and dancing within walking distance.
I also love Hyatt Aventine La Jolla, it's right by Flemings, and a few other high end dining places that i can't think of right now but it's not ocean front though

oceanfront.... santa barbara is more sleepy, especially in november, santa monica would be a good option: shutters on the beach is really nice! and lots of good options for dinner and going out after.

In November, DH and I are going to have our first overnight trip away from the kids. We don't want to travel too far from home so we are thinking anywhere from Santa Barbara down to Laguna Beach.

We would like to stay somewhere oceanfront. And thinking we will go out to a nice dinner and drinks & dancing after.

Anyone have hotel recommendations and restaurant recs???
