@stiletto_mom: unfortunately, My mother never got stretch marks but I did, so it doesnt always follow that way. I learnt from my first pregnancy that no matter how you lotion up, if your prone to get them you will,

Spoilt mamas belly butter. I had stretch marks prior to becoming pregnant and didn't get new ones during pregnancy. I totally think it was the belly butter and the belly runs from DH which were very relaxing (hips and but and breasts are important to get too).

In the morning I used Burts Bees belly butter. It's scent free and I thought it absorbed well.
In the evening I used bio oil.
I'll do the same next time. No stretch marks. But my mom did get them even using vitamin e oil...so I'm torn on the whole hereditary thing.

Another vote for EMAB Stretch oil! Although be aware that it does take a while to fully absorb (like any oil). I'm in layers almost 100% of the time so instead of going belly out for a while, I'd just accept that my tank tops would smell a bit like EMAB... which is YUMMY anyway

I used the Burt's Bees Mama Belly Butter but mostly just to relieve itching, I don't think you really can prevent stretch marks. FWIW though I didn't get any (with the exception of one on my boob after my milk came in postpartum).

I used Mama Mio and really liked it. It smelled good and wasn't sticky or greasy...and I can be really picky. I didn't get any stretch marks but I think genetics has a big part in it. But, definitely doesn't hurt to slather yourself down just in case it helps.

I used the Almond Supple Skin Oil from L'Occitane and I attribute it to my lack of stretch marks. My mom has AWFUL stretch marks from pregnancy and I got really bad ones during puberty, so I figured there wasn't much I could do. But I used this oil every day on my belly and got no stretch marks there. I did get them pretty bad on my hips but I didn't oil there initially. Once I started oiling there they pretty much stopped showing up there.

I used a combo of the Mustela stretch mark double action cream (less greasy, used in the morning after showering), Earth Mama Angel Baby natural stretch oil, and either the Motherlove belly salve or the Honest belly butter (used at night for DH to give me belly rubs). I started really early on so I ended up going through a lot of them (according to my Amazon acct, ordered them after my appt to confirm the pregnancy haha)!

I mostly used them because I am prone to itchy skin anyway and wanted to avoid that as much as possible. I didn't get any stretch marks but I doubt it was bc of any of these products. But, I'll totally use them again in future pregnancies anyway.

@stiletto_mom: I used cocoa butter with my first and Bio Oil with my second... mainly because I couldn't stand the smell of the cocoa butter and i found the Bio Oil on sale, I think just keeping your skin hydrated with whatever is important! my mom did get some stretch marks and I luckily did not with either pregnancy, and neither did my sister.... i think we just got lucky, not sure if the lotion helped, but it definitely will not hurt to keep that skin hydrated as it expands - put it on your boobs too!

For me personally, nothing worked. But my mom had horrible stretch marks, and I followed in her footsteps for sure. I had a ton by the time I was 16 weeks, and at the end at 39 weeks, my entire tummy was covered almost all the way up to my boobs. I tried all the creams and lotions.....

I used Melaleuca Renew Intensive Skin Therapy lotion. I have really sensitive skin, and most lotions make me break out badly. I only had two or three stretch marks in my first pregnancy, and I didn't get them until 38 weeks (I was ALL belly with both kids). I didn't get any new ones with my second pregnancy.
