Thanks all. Surgery was this morning and he was a beast coming out of anesthesia but he’s happily eating lunch now so hoping the worst is over!

@Mrs Green Grass: same here. My daughter was 3 when she had hers out, and the hardest part was coming out of anesthesia because they're very disoriented, so we were ready with lots of cuddling and familiar things like her blanket, toys, and some TV just to keep her distracted. She was pretty weak when we were driving home but as soon as she got some food in her, she was bouncing around within an hour. Adenoids are much simpler than tonsils, too. Their breath is a bit smelly for a few days because of the site healing, but she was pretty much back to normal within a day. Good luck!

DS has his tonsils and adenoids removed last month. He’s 4. Coming out of anesthesia was rough. After that, it wasn’t too bad. He was sore that day and just ate popsicles, but was eating soup and crackers by the next day. The nights were rough for about a week. We gave him Tylenol before bed, but he would wake up hysterical in the middle of the night because his throat was sore.

The only bad part was coming out of anesthesia. Then he didn’t want to eat for about an hour. After that ate all day.

No advice but my 4yo is getting tubes/adenoidectomy Friday. We stocked up on ice cream and popsicles so I’m hoping it goes ok. In general I feel like kids bounce back so fast

LO2 is having them removed tomorrow when he gets his tubes replaced. I’m nervous. How long was the recovery if yours had this done too? He is 2.
