It's fleece and really thick and soft. We switched our carpet to wood floors and the rug is an excellent landing pad for our kids to roll around and play. Doesn't shed at all, vacuums easily. It also sheds a bit, and now that my 5-month old is rolling and getting close to sitting up, I think we need something better suited for him.
