Just go slow and see if some textures work better than others. My LO didn't really get it until we gave him meltable a like mums. But he eats great now nat almost two. Just a slow start.

@Anagram: She's 6 months. My other daughter was all about the food, so it's so weird to have the opposite right now. But thank you for sharing your experience. I might just have to take it slow - I don't like the idea of force feeding her.

My son is the same. He's 8 months on Friday and still will barely eat solids. We're just trying to go slow and offer food at least twice a day. We may cool it on the purees soon and try more BLW soon and see how that goes.

@BabyBoecksMom: How old is she now?

My LO didn't have reflux, but MSPI and we did have issues with solids. She literally wouldn't open her mouth at all for solids until 7 months and even after she started opening her mouth, she would just do a lot of tasting but no real eating.

Even up till a year old, she just wasn't really in to solids, although I followed the rough "schedule" our pediatrician recommended. Like when she said we should be at 2 meals, I started offering 2 meals a day even though LO wasn't really eating enough to call either session a "meal". When our ped said we should be at 3 meals, I offered 3 times a day.

LO was bottle fed with pumped breast milk, so I dropped bottles a little slower than "recommended". Many of my fellow bottle feeding mom friends were down to 2 bottles (actually straw cups) a day by 1 year, and my LO was still at 4 because she wasn't eating.

At 13 months, I cut down to 2 bottles (morning and night) and 1 straw cup of milk (that she rarely drinks) during the day and she suddenly turned into an eating machine.

Now we have days where she eats all day long and can't seem to get enough. I've seen her eat an entire bratwurst herself, plus 2 vegetable sides, plus some bread. And she's 14 months. Crazy town, considering at 12 months I could hardly get her to eat at all.

Did any reflux babies have trouble w/ starting solids?

DD2 has bad reflux and we've had to give her dissolvable Prilosec every day since she was about 6 weeks old. She doesn't trust anything we put in her mouth now, because we have to force her to take her medicine daily.

We are trying to start solids, but she clamps her mouth closed and won't let anything in. If anything does get in, she gags herself until she throws up.

We did BLW w/ DD1, so we'll do some of that w/ DD2, but we wanted to at least start with purees.
