@citymouse: It's all marketing...lame. Eczema is definitely linked to allergies. Maybe the sensitive will help?

@Ash: she said eczema and rash, that will not respond to creams. linked to dairy! The other skin symptom I have found through my own research is redness around anus that will also not respond to creams, specifically zinc oxide creams. Im sure you've tried this already, but coconut oil??

@citymouse: poor peanut! I'd think that sounds like a need for meds. I hope he feels better soon!

@Ash: I definitely don't mind the spit up, as long as he is not in pain. But, he arches, gags, coughs, has diarrhea, pulls away from the bottle and cries, and sometimes refuses the bottle altogether. We have 1 million bibs, and so many burp cloths, so I don't mind that part so much! He will wake up from a deep sleep crying, from the acid in his throat, spit up, and then have a hard time getting back to sleep.

@Mrs Green Grass: See, that's what I thought too? But, on the Sensitivity formula we are looking at trying first, it says it helps with fussiness, gas, and spit up. Our Ped also said that it doesn't sound like a food sensitivity because his skin is normal, he is gaining (6.6 lbs at birth, now at 10 weeks almost at 11 lbs, has grown over 4 inches), and he doesn't cry all day. She said with food sensitivities it shows up more that just GI issues. We are having his stool tested for blood though.

I don't think formula changes should really affect reflux unless it's connected to a food sensitivity.

But...my baby choked a ton while eating and we used Enfamil AR along with breastmilk. It's prethickened with rice cereal. The theory is that it stays down more easily because it's thicker. That combined with Prevacid worked for us.

My pedi says that spit up usually subsides around 7 months to a year. If it's just a laundry issue, even meds won't help.

We switched from Gerber Goodstart to Allimentum but the only thing that worked was a prescription. We were on Zantac and then we had to go to a stronger PPI, Prilosec I believe. Our daughter had extreme reflux that was also caused by other health issues.

We switched from regular similac to gentlease(and eventually target gentle formula). It didn't help with the reflux so much, as it helped with the gas. His reflux was only helped by Zantac. But like @blackbird: he still spit up constantly!

It did not for us. Zantac quit the pain but there was nothing to stop the constant upchuck of milk
