@Mae: we haven't had any issues yet. She's a few weeks behind your LO though. She's swaddled and scoots all around her crib, so she doesn't actually stay on the incline all night, but I think it helps her fall into her deep sleep during the first stretch of sleep.

We have a rolled up towel under one end of the crib mattress. LO was diagnosed with reflux around 5 weeks, and we let her sleep in the swing for a couple weeks after that but I dreaded the crib transition so we bit the bullet and moved her to the crib recently. She's done well, not sleeping as good as in the swing, but I think the incline is helping.

We used the Rock n Play and the crib transition was really not too bad in retrospect. It took about two weeks, which seemed neverending at the time. If I have another reflux baby, I'd do it the same way.

@Mae: I totally understand! I have generally good night sleepers and we had two weeks of great day napping before it all fell apart. I want my nappers back!

R slept in the RnP until she was six weeks old then we transitioned to the crib for the first part of the night. We put a crib wedge on top of the mattress and under the sheet so it stayed put. It really helped her.

@twodoghouse: yea i'm really wondering if we even need to elevate at night. she (knock on wood) has never cried after being put down for the night ever. so i'm not sure the point really... except our days are still rough so i'm wanting to do ALL THE THIGNS that might help :)

You can get this little sling thing for the tucker wedge that holds baby in place so she doesn't slide down. I haven't done it, but my friend did and she thought it helped her son who had severe reflux. A and B both sleep in their flat cribs now and between the meds, AR formula (it's slightly thicker which works well for my LOs) and holding upright for 20 min after feeding (PITA in the night but makes the biggest difference for us!) we don't have any spitting up or crying awake from reflux in the night.

@Mae: He started rolling on his side and worming around from week 1 so I could only let him sleep in either a crib or things with mesh sides. Last night I must have elevated the Sena too much because DH said he found him in the corner. And it didn't help anyway, there was some spectacular vomiting.

I've been afraid to let him sleep on an incline but when he was in the hospital they decided his reflux was so bad (fluid in his lungs) that they all put his mattress on an incline. One nurse made a little nest at the end to keep him from sliding down by rolling a blanket into a u shape and sticking it under the sheet. Would your LO be able to sleep with her arms unswaddled?

I don't think I would use it at night with the pnp - it just doesn't feel as sturdy to me. I have done that with the crib mattress though.

L slept in the rnp since his 1st night home from the hospital and had no problems transitioning to the crib.

Not sure if this is too much of a hassle, but if you get a referral to see a pediatric OT they can make you a custom foam wedge thats safe for baby to sleep in at night.

We put books (or pieces of wood) under the legs of one side. My son did not roll. We were told not to put anything under the mattress because it creates a small crease which could potentially be dangerous.

We used the RnP. Not for reflux, but just because I had heard good things about it. I started putting DS for naps in his cribs for a few weeks and then the transition to night time sleep on a flat surface was seemless when we tried it a few weeks ago. Maybe you'd have the same luck! :)

I think the rock and play is the safest option, but we couldn't use our much past 4 months. We eventually out a towel under the mattress in the crib. The NICU actually suggested putting phone books under the legs of the crib... We didn't have sliding problem with the towel...

Our LO was diagnosed with reflux last week and the doc did not say that she HAS to sleep on an incline, but said it may help. She's always slept in her pack n play (bassinet attachment) and sleeps really well so I don't want to put her in the rock n play because I've heard the rock n play to crib transition can really suck.

The last few days I've been putting a pillow under the "mattress" on one side of the pack n play to elevate one side for her naps, and she seems to like it... however I'm scared to do it at night when I can't keep an eye on her because I'm worried she'll scoot sideways and roll onto her stomach.

I've looked into the crib wedge which is supposedly safe-- but I worry that it would basically do the exact same thing as the pillow and be a roll hazard.

If you had a reflux baby... what did you do? Let them sleep flat? Rock n play? Pillow? Crib wedge? Other?
