@Penny Lane: ah, okay. I wasnt sure. Aptamil is the British formula C was on for a bit. Yeah, but we used Gerber GoodStart Gentle (and Protect sometimes). No issues!

@zippylef: nah, watties Heinz something with pre and probiotics in it is what we use. I'm not sure if aptamil is the same stuff just branded differently for us or what :) but thanks! if he refuses this ready made stuff I'll try gerber tomorrow :)

@FutureMrsMcK: target just has everything out on the shelves, not even really sorted into brands or types or anything. so much overwhelm. and I could read the labels. I spent probably 15 min in the aisle in NZ deciding between our 6 types O_o so I made DH choose this time!

Oh, poor baby!

I can empathize with being overwhelmed with choices...when I decided to stop pumping I wanted to have a box of formula as backup in case I couldn't nurse for some reason, and I must have spent 20 minutes staring at all of the tags at the grocery store (and I don't know how Target does it, but the store I was at just had vouchers that you brought to the checkout and they brought you the formula) so I couldn't even pick up the box and read the label!

I ended up with Gerber Good Start Protect (although I feel like I asked for something else...). My primarily BF baby hasn't had any issues with it.

I hope you find one that works!

@Penny Lane: Im assuming Aptamil is what you feed him in NZ? C switched between that and US Gerber formula pretty well.

@Penny Lane: regular enfamil, the yellow container is the better choice. Gentlease (the purple one) doesn't taste very good.i thin f babies have had that from the beginning and don't know any better, they are fine. But if they know what regular formula tastes like they reject it. Sorry it is so tough, you are right, the amount of choice is really overwhelming.

@blackbird: we did go straight from one kind to the other. this was over a week ago though that we switched and he's only just started objecting now, so i'm not sure that was the problem

but, we just went out and bought some ready made stuff and it smells way creamier and sweeter than the emfamil stuff, much closer to the smell of what we had in NZ, along with a faster flow nipple, and he's just downed 4 oz. So hopefully one of those was the problem!! thankfully we go home on Thursday :)

Did you go straight from one type of formula to another? That could do it....i'm guessing you don't have any left to sort of ease her into the other kind?

I would definitely think he could not like the taste of the kind you bought

alright ladies, help me out here.

DH, LO and I have been stateside for 2.5 weeks now. the container of formula we brought over from nz lasted us the first week and a bit.

for a variety of reasons I've stopped BFing in the last few days so we've been feeding him more than just his one formula bottle a night.

the problem is since yesterday he has basically been refusing to drink any formula. we bought I think enfamil gentle ease.

could he just not like the taste of this kind? is there another kind you recommend?

he generally seems happy as normal, but he has been pooping a LOT more, and got car sick and threw up 5 times over 4 hours a week ago.

I guess I'm just venting, we have no insurance here obvs, so can't take him to a dr to make sure everything is okay either. ugh!
