If they both carried the item I put it on both registries. I figured that some people may prefer one store over the other for various reasons (closer to their house, free shipping, coupons, store credit card, etc.), so I didn't want to box anyone in. I just kept an eye on my registry and deleted the duplicate from the other store if someone bought it.

Anything BRU carried in-store I registered for there. Everything else I registered for on Amazon.

I registered at a brick-and-mortar store and Amazon. I aimed for variety at both (various price points and types of gifts, so that people shopping at either one would have options), but tried to stick with things that were likely to be available in-store at most locations for Target, since some stores don't have a huge baby sections (mostly best-seller items that each location is likely to carry). With a few exceptions, I put most of the more expensive items on Amazon because 1) the prices were much better and 2) most of the people who I thought were likely to spend more were also more likely to buy online.

If you're going with 2 physical stores, I'd say the most important thing is to have variety at both. You don't want all your expensive stuff at BRU and all your inexpensive stuff at Target, since you don't know who will shop where and with what budget. Also, once invitations go out, you can check periodically online and move things around if necessary.

Ib tried to have a variety of price points on each registry, picking based on what was cheapest where. I also tried to group things a bit so for example all the bag stuff was at one and all the linens were at the other. Toys, books and other small things were on both. I did put a few large items on both and then removed them as needed from the other but if you're not a registry stalker I don't recommend that. I got duplicates but I was actually quite OK with it since we were purchasing some big items ourselves and I used the credit from duplicates towards those items.

If you want an item sold at both stores, I'd go with the cheaper option. That's what I think a lot of people do? A lot of things are different between BRU and Target too especially as far as the availability of the larger stuff. I think if I were having baby #1 I'd also consider Amazon. My sister did this and I appreciated it as a gift giver, but then I'm a huge Amazon Prime user.

I am thinking about registering at a baby story (probably BRU since that's what we have the most of) and probably Target as well.

How did you decide what to put on one registry vs. another?!? Like, how to split up what stuff is from BRU and what's from Target. Any thoughts?
