@anonysquire: I've seen Team Greeners register for both. Not rude at all. If I have a girl next time, she'll be wearing LO's clothes which are boy stuff.

Just needing to ask a question and don't want to start another thread. For those of you who were team green did you register for some boy and girl outfits? Like not gender neutral just some boy ones and some girl ones? Is this rude?

1. How far along were you when you made your registry?
So we started ours super early - maybe 7/8 weeks? Originally we weren't going to have a shower and it was just a place for us to keep track of all the stuff we intended to buy. Then my friends threw me a shower at 21 weeks, so it was good that we had started early.

2. How many items did you have on there?
About 125. We had a huge guest list of over 80 people, so I added a bunch of smaller stuff I probably wouldn't have if we'd had more like 30.

3. Where did you register?
We registered at Buy Buy Baby and Babies R Us, and those were shared with shower guests. We also had a Pottery Barn Kids registry that we just shared with close family, because I didn't want people to think we expected them to purchase that stuff, it was for us to keep track of what we wanted and to get the registry discount on.

4. Did you have any expensive items (like strollers and carseats) on there?
Yes, every single possible thing we could put on there, we did.

1. How far along were you when you made your registry?
Pretty early, since we had to travel for our showers and had them when I was around 26 weeks.

2. How many items did you have on there?
Probably 100-200? No idea. So many tiny items! I used Lucie's List's sample checklist and cross-checked with friends and the Baby Bargains book.

3. Where did you register?
Buy Buy Baby and Amazon. I LOVE MY AMAZON REGISTRY. It's AMAZING. So easy to use once I figured it out. I also way prefer BBB to BRU. Great being able to go in and use 20% off coupons, and great customer service. I think the stores are more shopper-friendly too. I've only had bad experiences in BRU stores. I also did a Target registry because I got a $20 gift card to do so, but only put 10-15 items on it and didn't share with anyone. I strangely had the most issues with this registry! Stuff being marked purchased when it wasn't, or not being able to add things (like my stroller- it's on their website and not in stores. Every time for weeks I'd try to add it I'd get an error. When I emailed/called they said to wait and try again the next day, or to go to the store and add it that way (it's not in stores.) HORRIBLE. I'd never register there for "real," but it was somewhat worth the $20.

4. Did you have any expensive items (like strollers and carseats) on there?

Yep! My FIL ended up buying our convertible carseat by accident instead of our stroller/infant seat travel system, so we just bought those on our own. I figure it's good to have on there so people know what you want and can buy accessories for it too, like we registered for an extra base, etc. When wondering if I should put certain large things on there (some of which we bought ourselves) I realized, worst case they sit unpurchaed until we purchase them! Plus I like that the registry serves as a receipt so when we bought the items I don't have to retain a receipt in case there are issues.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: Younger people shopped on Amazon and most of the people who are 50+ shopped in store. I built my registries by where ever an item was least expensive (or in some cases, based on whatever store had the item). I kept an eye on the registry and if it got uneven, I moved items from the Amazon to the Target registry (never had to do it the other way around!).

1. I was 20 weeks but I made them private until my shower invites went out (at around 26 weeks)
2. Probably like 8 big ticket items ($75+) and 40-50 smaller ones.
3. Amazon and Target--I liked Amazon, but you have to keep an eye on it. If something goes out of stock from one seller, it will stay on from another seller (which sometimes means something you thought cost $20, now costs $35). That was kind of a pain.
4. Yep-strollers/car seats/pack n play. Also had crib on there but my mom ended up buying it for us before I made the registry public.

1. How far along were you when you made your registry?
Ehhh...I guess it was technically "started" when we found out I was pregnant--I used a private one on Amazon to keep track of the things I researched/liked. I made it public the few weeks leading up to my shower (maybe 24 weeks?).

2. How many items did you have on there?
Maybe 50ish at Amazon and 50ish at Target

3. Where did you register?
Amazon and Target

4. Did you have any expensive items (like strollers and carseats) on there?
On Amazon I did, only because they have a 10% completion code. Also, because I was still using the Amazon one as my "shopping list"/things we needed list, I wanted to make sure I had everything in one spot.

To be totally honest, I really didn't get much of anything off either registry. People mainly gave clothes. The Target one definitely saw more action, I think because it was an actual "store" and old people seem to like stores vs. computers.

1. How far along were you when you made your registry?
Around 16 weeks. My husband travels through the summer and wanted to be able to be on hand to make decisions.

2. How many items did you have on there?
Between the two, around 100.

3. Where did you register?
Amazon and BRU.

4. Did you have any expensive items (like strollers and carseats) on there?
No, we didn't put any expensive items on there. I felt strongly about purchasing those ourselves for a few reasons: 1) so we would get the major gear that we researched and absolutely wanted, and 2) because our families aren't well off and I didn't feel comfortable putting big ticket items on the registry.

2. Hmmm...between the 2 registries, probably 75-100 items.

3. Amazon and Babies R Us. I LOVED the Amazon registry, and would have registered fully from there if I thought our families would actually shop off it.

4. We put everything on the registries (except for the nursery furniture, which we bought ourselves). A few people went in on a couple of the bigger items. And then we also were able to use the completion discounts.

1. How far along were you when you made your registry?
12 weeks. Although I'm not announcing I have one until baby shower invites go out. I wanted to get a headstart on all the basics/gender neutral items I needed and could add fun stuff later after I find out what I'm having.

2. How many items did you have on there?
I'm going off a registry guide to make sure I don't miss anything an I'm only halfway done. I think I have 60 items give or take so far.

3. Where did you register?
Buy buy baby and we may also do Walmart.

4. Did you have any expensive items (like strollers and carseats) on there?
Every item we will need is on there. Some family likes to go in together and buy expensive items so I figured it won't hurt. If we don't have it after the shower we will just buy it.

1. As soon as i found out i was pregnant i started a babylist registry so that i could keep track of all the products that were recommended on hellobee. Around 12 weeks i started comparing prices and reviews on Amazon, Buy Buy Baby, and BRU. Even though Amazon often had the best deals I knew my family and friends are mostly shop in store kinda people so i went with BBB and BRU. Around 16 weeks I went in the stores to check out the things i had picked out online and register for other things that caught my eye. I preferred buy buy baby, especially since they sold BG Freetimes in the store, but BRU seems to be the favorite for my shower guests.

2. I have about 100 items on my BBB list and 70 on my BRU list. Some things I put on both esp the bigger ticket items or things i really wanted (Freetimes) and have just been keeping an eye out and eliminating as people buy things.

3. Buy Buy Baby there is only 1 store that's near my parents house but fairly easy to get to. Babys R Us has many location all over our area

4. In the beginning I literally put everything I thought i wanted to buy. Crib, stroller, etc. My mom and MIL bought my the crib, mattress and dresser. We bought our rocker/glider on CL. If i ended up buying something i either took it off the list or I marked it as purchased and i have edited some now that people are buying things. If my friends/family/coworkers want to buy us nice gifts i'm not going to say "no, don't spend your money" but i also have plenty of things on there that are reasonable and would make nice gifts. I did not register for any clothes other than plain white onesies (long and short sleeve) and I didnt register for any toys or books. (that's not including playmats or bouncy chairs, etc) I will say most of our bigger ticket items got snatched up with in a week or 2 of the shower invites going out. I think my only really big things left are the infant car seat, 2 convertible car seats and the swing. I'm not worried theres still a few more weeks until the shower and i dont think my coworkers started planning one yet.

It seems like a lot of people registered on amazon. How did you choose what to put on amazon and what to have in the box store? Did people end up using Amazon more than the box store?

I think the magic price point for registries is between $25 and $50. I think sometimes the issue with putting a bunch of inexpensive stuff on is that people have to buy a lot of it and the gift looks disorganized or like it's not enough.

1. I didn't start ours until we were about 23-24 weeks along. I had a shower at 29 weeks and I wasn't too thrilled about starting a registry that early, but people wanted it done for the shower. We lost our first at 20 weeks, so I didn't even think about a registry until we were about 21 weeks along.

2. We registered at amazon and target. We had about 60 items on amazon and 100 at target. Target's has lots of little toys and things like that.

3. Amazon and target. I had one lady tell me that this was the first time she bought something off of amazon and it was so easy and so fast! It was cute. :)

4. Yes, we had stroller, car seat and extra base, bouncers, swings (we have two houses), pack and play, lots of stuff. We've gotten most of our big stuff! It was craziness at my first shower and I have several more.

I think you can do expensive stuff on your registry, just make sure you have cheaper options. For DD we had DH's family all chip in for the travel system, someone else got us the swing, my SIL got us a convertible carseat, and (even though it wasn't on the registry) DH's Grandfather bought us the crib. I also made sure that there were plenty of 30 and under options too, so people didn't feel like they needed to spend a lot.

And, I have made a registry for every baby I have had since just for the completion discount! And, I even registered at multiple places just for the completion discount, hahaha.

1. We made a private Amazon one pretty early on, maybe 14 weeks? i used it to put items to research so i didn't have to go back and forth!
2. probably 100 on our amazon and 25-30 on our BBB
3. amazon and bbb
4. yep! we had our car seat, stroller, mattress, etc on there. anything we needed for baby was added. it acted as my checklist too! whatever we didn't get, i bought! i still use my amazon registry as a place for me to put stuff i want for LO!

@Smurfette: Cool, now I don't feel like such a crazy!

@PurplePeony: I am going into registering with the thought that even if no one gets anything off of it, I will have a list of everything else I need for the baby. So maybe look at it like a checklist for baby?

I'm 22 weeks and just started making a registry a few days ago. I'm finding it super overwhelming and stressful, especially since I don't even really want a shower and I get uncomfortable with people buying us stuff. But friends have started asking, soo...

I'm just doing Amazon for now, they have a universal feature do you can add stuff from anywhere. Just walking into BRU makes my skin crawl a bit, so even though I've gone there once or twice to scope things out, I'll probably just put a few things from there on a registry online and make sure they're available to buy in-store.

So far, I have mostly bigger things on there (stroller, crib mattress, car seat) and some smaller things like crib sheets, nose frida, swaddle blankets, etc. I'm at the point where I don't really know what else to put on there but I know there must be a ton of things I haven't thought of yet.

I hate registering.

@anonysquire: we waited to register till we knew the gender. But if you are TG I see nothing wrong with starting now. You have plenty of time to add and delete before any showers.

1. I think I started it at about 14 weeks but kept it private until I had everything figured out.

2. 86 items.

3. myregistry.com So that I could register with a number of different stores/products online. It was confusing for some people (the low-tech/older people). Amazon is really great.

4. Yes. We had our crib, her dresser, changing table, and stroller on the registry. But those items had been claimed by certain family members who offered to purchase them for us. I shared the registry with the family members privately first.
