After a quick chat with my dh I think we decided on a gift card and a book-- I get to pick something fun and they still get something practical if that's what they need. I appreciate the help!

its what they registered for, if you want and its within your budget maybe you can throw in something cute with it.

I think the safety gear along with something fun is the best way to go. No one ever wants to gift that boring stuff, but it's a necessity.

I also think the safety gear would be good. Definitely something they'll need, and one of those annoying things to have to buy yourself. You could throw in something fun with it, like an outfit, book or toy

A&A blankets or customized blanket with name would be two great ideas I think!

I think going off registry to get something personalized or something like the A&A blanket is good :)

Buying safety stuff is not fun or cute, but is necessary. I would get them pretty much all the safety stuff up to a dollar amount you are comfortable and also purchase a book they can read to the baby.

I would go off the registry. The A&A blankets sound great or maybe a Baby DeeDee sleep sack!

A friend of my husbands just had a baby and we wanted to send over a gift. I have only met him a few times and I don't think I have ever met his wife but he and my husband see each other at least once a week.

I am not sure what to send, their registry still has a handful of items left on it but about half is safety items like outlet covers, foam corner covers etc, and the other half is such basic things that I am inclined to assume they bought them for themselves already-- crib sheets, car seat adapter for the stroller and newborn hats.

Any suggestions? They did not register for the A&A blankets so I was considering those, I was also thinking about getting something with the baby's name on it.
