Lucie's List, HB, and Amazon reviews were all I needed. I haven't been disappointed with a purchase yet!

Thanks for your input guys. I'm sure that HB, Lucie's List, and Amazon will probably be sufficient, but I have that nagging FTM worry that I am overlooking something.

@Mrs. Yoyo: Aw thanks, you're sweet.

I bought the book but didn't like the recommendations. I can't remember specifics but I recall thinking I would be spending a lot more money following that advice. I think they might have been a little negative on second hand items for me (I got almost everything hand me down). Anyway, I preferred Lucie's List, Amazon, and HB.

I think the book is great for furniture choices since amazon doesn't really have much for that. I'm didn't follow all the suggestions from the book though. For instance, the stroller and monitor we picked weren't recommended by the book but were highly rated on amazon.

In my case Amazon reviews + hellobee were sufficient. I don't have many regrets in my gear choices.

LOVE that book. I have to have the current edition for some freelance work. Happy to look up a few things for you if you like.

If you find you want an updated review of an item maybe just stop at your local library or bookstore and read that chapter in store really quick.

I used Amazon, Baby Gear Lab, and other searching I did on my own. HB was a great resource!

I'm a cheapskate and I loved that book. I would spend the few bucks on the current version. I love it because you gives you recommendations on different price levels. Splurge, average and budget but all are highly rated items.

I hate to suggest you spend money on it if you only need help for a few items. Can you check your library? Ours has it and it is a helpful book but if you still have useful information in the one you have it sort of seems silly.

I am a nanny so a major job perk is trying most stuff before I buy it myself but I like Lucie's list, amazon reviews and just asking friends and on here. Weespring is supposed to be pretty good too but I haven't tried it yet.

A friend gave me her old copy of Baby Bargains. It seems like a great resource, but a lot of the products that I am interested in have come out since the book was published (it is several editions old). I'm wondering if I should purchase the current Baby Bargains book or subscribe to the website for reviews. Did you use either resource? Did you find them helpful? If you didn't use them, what did you rely on for registry help? I've looked at Lucie's List and Amazon reviews too.
