We keep an ongoing Amazon list our families know about. I think it might be ick to put it on an invite, but if someone asks, just send them the link.

My family members keep wish lists for their children. It's nice to look and even if I don't get something from there, I have an idea about what that child is interested in at that moment.

We have an amazon wishlist for E, and whenever someone asks what to get her after the whole polite "you don't need to get her a gift... blah blah" "we want to get her something blah blah" conversation, I email them the link to the wishlist. Whenever I think of something I want to buy her, I pop it on there and then if I buy it, it comes off. Works really well for us.

I like the idea of the amazon wish list. Then it seems less like a registry.

I think in your case it would be appropriate, since you are overseas! It would give your family a better idea.

It wouldn't be appropriate to put the link on a birthday party invite or randomly send it to people but otherwise I don't see what would be wrong with it. We do them in my family for Christmas since we all live far away and it has made buying gifts so much easier. Unless you see someone all the time it's impossible to know what they want or need. This way you are getting someone exactly what they want & you know it's the right size/color. My son is turning 1 in a few weeks and I've been updating his list every so often with toys or clothes. Sometimes it's more like a Pinterest board of things I want to keep an eye on to buy him but if someone asks what to get him I tell them about the list. I know the grandparents always appreciate the ideas.

I have one that I use as a list of things I want to get her. I've had family ask what she needs for Xmas and I directed them to the list. And MIL just asked for her birthday.

It's not like it's a "registry" and I'm telling people oh get her stuff from here. If they ask then I direct them there.

C's big 1 is coming up quick. I have had several people ask what she wants for her birthday. A good friend suggested I create an Amazon wish list for her to give people ideas.

Would you? I'm just not sure if that's really.... appropriate? We are overseas military, so our families don't really know what she does and does not have and a lot of people here will order things or buy the same things on base.
