DH and I never use lube, but I used to have problems with my CM. I would get fertile CM a few days before O and then would be dry when I finally did O. I started taking evening primrose oil with my morning vitamins. I'd read that actually it helps your body produce better quality CM. However, you'll want to stop taking it after ovulation as I think it can also encourage AF to show up earlier because it can cause uterine contractions. So just take it from the start of AF through O and then stop. Here's a helpful article: http://www.early-pregnancy-tests.com/evening-primrose.html

Lube can effect the "ecosystem" in there, so maybe it could mess with your natural CM.

I'm sure some types could, but there are a lot of babies conceived with regular lube and without pre-seed.

I believe that some lubes act as spermicides, but don't know the specifics.

So DH used regular lube last night instead of preseed. I didn't notice until I smelt watermelon and it was too late (don't ask). I didn't think much of it as we were 5 days before O and my CM wasn't super fertile yet. Told myself I'd make sure to pull out the preseed or grab it first next time. Well, today, when my CM should be more of a fertile texture, is barely there.

This happened a couple months ago, where DH and I BD'd, my body was gearing up to O, went dry and started the process again. I'm not completely positive, but we probably used the same lube.

So my question, could certain types of lube dry up your CM?
