Doing little thoughtful things for each other I think is a good way to start. We're not much of gift people but we just do little things for each other regularly. When he has to get up early I'll get his coffee ready to go the day before. He could do it himself but he appreciates it and it's like a little love hug early in the morning (especially if I don't want to get up to give a love hug at 5 am). Or he brought home some white chocolate chips so he could make my favorite kind of coffee this morning when he didn't have to go in early. But we do non-coffee teats too.

Date nights that resemble pre-baby. We've just had a couple of these where we went and hung out at places where we did when we first met (we recently moved back there), it was kinda fun to go out and do what we did back in the day even if we came home earlier.

@Nskillet: I would just flag that the number one mood killer is usually resentment. If you can both focus there, then you'll be in a much better place for things to follow their natural course.

@meredithNYC: The shower, dressing and make-up is good advice. Lately I haven't been taking very good care of myself, but the days I put myself together I definitely see a difference in my mood and confidence. The days I don't, I just feel yucky and tend to push DH away.

I am also following this, though in a little different situation. I feel more ready to go than ever, but with a prolapse its not going to happen for awhile. Trying to figure out how to deal with this because obviously DH and I had been counting down! I'm not a huge fan of giving oral but feel like its gonna have to happen to not ruin things!

I don't have much advice, but just wanted you to know you're not alone! We are finally at the point where LO is a lot less work (SSTN, fairly independent, etc.), but for some reason it's like... we've gone so long with very limited intimacy that it's almost like we have forgotten how to feel/what to do. It's really not great :(

The only thing that helps me feel better about myself is to make myself shower every morning and put on my make-up (doesn't have to be full face - just whatever makes you feel better!) and put on "real" clothes. Sometimes I feel silly because I won't even leave the apartment, or LO and I will just go to the supermarket. But it's just important for me to feel like my old self - particularly when a lot of my clothes don't fit. I guess I'm making the choice to have control over the things I am able to work with in the moment. But! This is kind of a side tangent.

One thing I want to work on with my husband is just being more intimate in small ways - i.e. giving more hugs and kisses and even sitting close to each other on the sofa (I know - how's THAT for depressing!). Because right now there's a lot of distance between us and I know we can't go from here to having a good sex life without working on the in-between.

It's a lot of work for us to. My libodo is shot right now, which I suspect is from nusring. DH and I discussed it and we're going to try for a date night every second week (weekly just won't work for us). And we try to have some TV free time after LO goes to bed at night where we can talk and connect about things that aren't TV or baby related and we can catch up about life.

@creativemomma15: Romance *is* work at first! It takes work to get it going, then that work feeling fades away hopefully...

I definitely feel the same way! It sometimes feels like I have to try hard to get "in the mood". I definitely don't want to feel like romance is work!

I'm trying to wear things (the few things in my wardrobe that fit) that look good on me. It's hard because I have very few things that fit right. I put on a dress, makeup and did my hair this weekend and that made me feel really good.

I tell you what, though - it's really hard to want to get all dressed up when you know you're going to have to strip it all down to feed your child in less than 2.5 hours from when you got dressed!!

Oh god. DH thought pregnant sex was creepy and weird, so we never did it. I'm 7 months pp and... yeah, not so much. I don't know what his deal is. We went from a great, active sex life to living like roommates. I hate it but I don't know what to do about it. I hate my naked body now and I know that has a lot to do with it.

I'm feeling the same exact way at 9 weeks PP, I just told DH last night I wish sometimes we could go back to our dating stage for a bit when everything was new and exciting. I will be following this post for ideas as well!

What advice do the ladies and gents of the boards have for this?

I have been feeling frumpy lately and like there isn't as much passion in my marriage since LO arrived 6 months ago. My DH was squarely in camp asexual during my pregnancy and while we recently have gotten the flames going again I'm wondering how everyone else is doing/feeling post partum.

It's weird for me. I never was the type who craved compliments to feel beautiful but lately I feel like I need it and don't know how to ask. Anyone else?

Feel free to be very candid in this thread!
